| Is Wisconsin really that elite? It keeps coming back up on all of the threads regarding prestige and colleges. |
| I'm waiting for the college lists from Glamour and People. |
This is a silly list, but yeah, I think Wisconsin is a very desirable school. Everyone seems to love it. Good college experience. Solid academically. Madison is cool. Rah rah go team sports environment. Midwestern nice. It's not a terrible place to spend four years. Except the winter part. |
Don’t forget the Enquirer because enquiring minds want to know. |
| Only schools that make sense are NYU, and Emory, and maybe Northeastern due to its crazy low acceptance rate. Otherwise the other schools are nowhere near prestigious. |
Emory and NYU are not below Notre Dame. If you're going by just USnews then I would wait for the new rankings to come out before making such claims. |
It’s the winter part that gets me. |
| unlike many of the schools on the list, UVA’s admissions rate hasn’t changed in many years. |
LOL it's funny how everyone is hoping ND falls. I guess we shall see, but my gut tells me it will remain in top 20 and worse case top 25. It hasn't been below 20 since 1994 when it was at 25, and that's the lowest ranking it has ever had. The beauty of ND is that a ranking drop isn't going to change the fact that the school is highly desired by Catholics all over the US and it will continue to be the strongest Catholic university, and an academic/athletic powerhouse. That's the main reason my kid wanted ND...best of both worlds. |
They have been lower for the past 50 years. |
My kid is non-Catholic, but it was on the top of college list when DC was looking for undergrad business program. It's hard to find better than ND Mendoza in terms of overall quality undergrad + program specific quality. UPenn Wharton and MIT Sloan are the only ones you can legitimately claim better. |

It' should be more specific.

It’s oos acceptance rate has. |
OOS admission is about 20%. They have especially strong programs in languages, business, math, and science. They have a lot of campuses so only the top in state students go to Madison. It’s often the first choice as a back up for kids who want Michigan. |
Emory and Notre Dame are essentially tied in the rankings. It’s so funny given how arbitrary the whole process is that people think a few slots different are so meaningful. |
