Whatever major gets her to change her mind about going to law school.

This is the only right answer. Bonus points if you enjoy it. As everyone says, it just doesn't matter. I majored in comp lit for goodness sake.

I don't necessarily think it gives a leg up in admissions or in school other than she is more likely to understand certain aspects of Con Law and possibly Criminal Law but that's not worth determining a major. I would encourage her to major in something that translates to a career path should she not decide to go to law school.

- Attorney poli sci major

Please, please, please do not follow this advice. Law schools hate this as much as they hate courses in "business law".

Which part should OP not follow? The part where she is specifically advised not to major in Poli Sci, which does not translate to a career path should she not decide to go to law school?

Don't think of the major as a factor in law school admissions. Grades are more important. Pick the major that will get her interesting internships and set up for something she's genuinely interested in case plans change.

Former marketing major is unlikely to get into a T14. Why did she want to be a marketing major in the first place? That isn't where the most academically able students congregate.

Whatever she enjoys majoring in. It doesn’t matter. All that matters is gpa.

Learning how to write and structure arguments well will serve her well. I found history to be a great major for law school. But that doesn’t mean she should major in history if she doesn’t like history.

Seemingly innocuous, but excellent advice.

OP here. I should add that she isn’t a math or science person at all so would poly sci be a good option?

It's a pretty classic path (I did it) but don't pick a major just because you think it will help get you into law school. I will say that lawyers do a lot of writing so a major with a lot of writing opportunities could be helpful. But then other majors may be helpful in different ways. Bottom line - She should major in what she's interested in.
