New to the area. Where do BSC boys team play if they are not MLSNext?

So my point to my post being I think that's why college coaches also look at ECNL - tons of talent there.

Also just not a perfect system yet, MLSNext is only 4 years old. My son plays ECNL and I'll definitely say MLSNext is the top League, but that doesn't necessarily mean they have all the top talent. I hear many parents really make a distinction between DCUnited and nonAcademyMLSNext teams. They'd be willing to give up playing high school and adding to the travel and time away from school for DCUnited but for a non Academy team it just doesn't seem worth it.

If MLS Next is clearly the top league, made up of MLS Pro Academies and MLS Next Affiliate teams, why would College Scouts go to ECNL to recruit primarily?

-Just guessing, but College Scouts know they might not be successful getting MLS Next Kids as those kids have aspirations to go directly into professional soccer. Additionally, some of the MLS Next players might not be college material or not likely to commit to all 4 years of the program.

You should have stopped at "Just Guessing"

If you voluntarily leave the best league to go to on average subpar coaching, subpar training sessions, subpar competition, subpar teammates and the injury-fest that which is HS soccer, then it is the right choice for you.

That’s too harsh.

MLS Next is full of kids who want to go pro, 99% of them who never will lol. Calling ECNL “average subpar” coaching/training/competition is just incorrect.

For many kids whose parents are more sensible about highly unlikely possibility of playing professional soccer, the best way to get the most out of soccer for a kid who is passionate about the game may very well be to play ECNL and to also get the experience of playing for their high school with their friends from school. Seems like a smart choice for most tbh.

I really don't think those parents care. But this is all of the cattiness we have seen over the years from ECNL parents and Richmond. Welcome back to the boards.

"...that which is HS soccer" (not ECNL)

ECNL kid who can't make MLS Next team = Future Neuroscientist
MLS Next kid who came from ECNL = Future Homeless Bum living under a bridge

Impressive that this slight of hand marketing is allowed to take place where clubs/teams are using "MLS Next 2" and "MLS 2" for NAL league and teams branding.
