| I don't want either of these things. |
| To all those who are stating they don’t want a vacation home because, travel! Get this, you can do both! If your vacation home is close enough you use it multiple weekends in the year and then you also take a bigger trip with your vacation time elsewhere. It’s only when the home is further out that it becomes an either or situation. As for the problem at hand I agree with the above person saying it’s not financial at heart, someone is a no and the no wins! |
Yes, of course you can do both if you have the large amounts of money that will enable you to do that! You can also have another kid and a vacation home if you have massive amounts of money. This hypothetical discussion assumes you have to make choices. |
| I had to be talked into even one child so I would take the vacay home. |
| Neither. I had the number of kids I wanted (1) and i am not in a position where a vacation home would be usable (not able to work from home, nowhere within an hour or two is interesting for me to buy a weekend house). |
|
the only vacation home that interests me is a condo in NYC
does that count? |
| Neither. Maybe I’m lazy, but a 2nd child and a vacation home both seem like too much work. |
No, its not! |
| I prefer lots of travel to a second home. I have two children which is what I wanted. |
| Takes about the same amount of money for both lol! One doesn't keep you up at night. Once kids have sports, though, it'll be hard to visit. |
| We have 2 kids and a vacation house. If I had one kid, I'd choose another kid. Very happy with 2 kids and no desire for more. |
| I love having three kids. I don't want the work of a vacation home. It will never love you back. |
| Only-child mom here. I made this choice. Vacation house for sure. (No, finances weren't the only reason we opted for one, but they're sure as heck *a* reason.) |
| Def a child!! |
| Personally I don’t have children, nor do I want them. I don’t see how kids make financial sense. Chances of a child being able to pay you back everything you put into them for 18 plus years is slim to none. Yes they might help take care of you in old age but that’s not guaranteed. I wouldn’t want a vacation house either. I prefer to see new places. |
