Was Thinking of Applying to Holton Arms But Then Saw This

There is a page like this for every single school, OP. It started over the summer when Black Lives Matter formed. The posts are anonymous and unverified, so you have to read them with that in mind. What really matters is what schools have done since then, what they are working on as a community and what the experience is like today.

Thanks. The complaints seem pretty consistent though.

Yes, every school has one and that says a lot about private schools in the DMV. Maybe they are trying but it doesn’t look like they are succeeding. They talk a lot about DEI and hire DEI staff but they don’t walk the talk. With tuition north of $50k/yr, it’s hard to achieve actual diversity.

There was one for every school. Many were fabricated. It was a social contagion that went unquestioned due to the mood at the time. Ignore it.

My dad's class at Holton had some very successful, high-end powered black students + parents. Holton is a great ticket for the Ivy League for black students. The Divide will not doubt your DD is smart if they can hack Holton. One black girl took 2 buses from SE DC. She is now a Yale Law Grad.

Harvard Law School has one too. What conclusions are you drawing from that?

As the parent of an African American daughter, no way. Horrible - too many stories.

I really hope that Holton stops engaging in affirmative action with the new Supreme Court decision. There should be zero favoritism in admission based on race..

You pipe into every discussion with this same line. A bit of advice, if your child was a true star, affirmative action would have no impact on his/her opportunities. Look in the mirror if you want to know why your child is not succeeding in life. Could it be because you (the parent) are unaccomplished? Are you unsuccessful in your career? Do you not have influential enough connections? Are you bitter and unattractive? Do you hang out on DCUM too much? Do you not realize that the majority of affirmative action beneficiaries are white women and are too scared to direct your anger towards them? Just do a total life eval and then come back and report. Be blessed.

Sorry, just am not a liberal and agree with the Supreme Court and it's decision...a radical concept on DCUM and the liberal echo chamber here.

Do not ignore it. Do not deny our lived experience. Do not be a jerk. Be a good person.

It’s quite clear:
1. Many more URM on aid. Being bused in and recruited. Not close.
2. Up until the Supreme Court ruling, URM kids with meaningfully lower stats were getting into better schools than their white counterparts. Look at the Harvard ruling. Data regarding URM was clear. 100 - 150 points lower on SAT.

Stop expecting special treatment and earn it.

OP, attend admission events and talk to actual families at the school.

DP. You have posted this before. White women are not the major benefactors of affirmative action in college admissions. Post your proof or stop saying this false straw man.

Looks like someone's snowflake did not get into an ivy after they paid full tuition for four years. Hey - University of Maryland is still a good school!
