If that's what we're waiting for, we probably won't have to wait that long. |
This is so sad to me. This man served the US, was able to escape Afghanistan, and was murdered on the streets of DC. And, yes - these teens need to be held accountable. For a very long time. And, as far as "their frontal lobes aren't developed"....... remember that there are some Democrats who believe kids as young as 16 should be able to vote. I hope these teens are caught and prosecuted as adults. |
| If their frontal lobes aren’t developed yet, they have no business having a gun. Find them and lock them and every adult “responsible” for them up. This is sick and wrong, |

I just read a news article about an Iowa teen sentenced to life after murdering his high school teacher.
Then this story about some DC kids who killed someone, it's just business as usual here. DC, Baltimore, these places. I don't have the words. |
WTF they haven't even caught the kids yet, much less prosecuted (or not) them?? JFC. |
The rise in violence is nationwide and not defined by red/blue political districts. The fact that you want to exploit this crime for your own political gain is shameful. How can you act like you take crime seriously when you have such an unserious response? You are wasting our time with your political nonsense while the problem remains unaddressed. |
Anthony Williams never had to deal with this Council. |
DP. Generally, red districts are more serious about prosecutions than blue districts. Not everywhere, but generally. I would bet a year's salary that the people who committed this crime are well known to law enforcement, have had prior arrests, and have not been held appropriately accountable for their crimes. If not all of them - at least the shooter. We shall see. |
Violent crime is actually DECREASING in many US cities. DC is a major outlier in this regard. Given the high number of law enforcement in the federal Capitol city, clearly something else at the policy level is going on. It is important to ask hard questions and hold our electeds accountable here. Crime apologists like you are dangerous. https://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Society/2023/0609/What-is-behind-a-huge-drop-in-the-murder-rate-this-year |
The issue is on the prosecution side - DOJ is not bringing charges or is downgrading to misdemeanors. DC federal Judges have been very soft in recent years. DC elected AG has been pretty soft on teen criminals. It’s a whole vortex of issues that won’t even be solved by replacing the Mayor and City Council by Republicans. No one voted for this. |
Maybe DC or DC citizens should sue DoJ for negligence of duty. |

This crime happened on my block. All of the neighbors are upset. This isn't an isolated event - we are constantly worrying about our tires getting stolen overnight (happens multiple times a month), getting mugged (has happened to two neighbors in the last few months), getting carjacked (happens ALL THE TIME NOW), and now worried about getting shot by juveniles while getting carjacked. WTF is wrong with this city?
DC Police and elected officials have been very slow to respond (and some haven't responded at all). This guy survived the Taliban but then gets shot by kids in DC. They were trying to steal his car. This was a CARJACKING ATTEMPT turned deadly. It's awful, just awful. I hope they find these kids. I hope our elected officials start punishing these criminals (I don't care how old they are, if they are brandishing a gun they should be tried as adults) and move the needle in the other direction. |
| Where are the parents? I think this current Council will be voted out soon. |
| Democrat paradise |
I didn't even bother to register where in DC this happened... surprised about the location... so close to the Hill. Sad. |
