Most offensive Broadway Musicals?

"Hair" intentionally so, but the pedophilia was over the top for me.

Beetlejuice is not remotely offensive. The musical has way more depth than just a fun movie about ghosts.

Go further back - Carousel doesn't play well in this day and age, but Book of Mormon is absolutely the most offensive show that I've ever seen. And, after about 25 minutes of being horrified, I was laughing along with everyone else (which I feel bad about)

Which push the boundaries of good taste?

Some ideas...

Book of Mormon (satire of religion)

Avenue Q (intentionally button-pushing)

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (sexual assault/harassment),

Beetlejuice (taunting about death)

I disagree about beetlejuice. It is not about taunting death! You do know we all die? It's about living

+1 Its a beautiful story about mourning, loss and re-connection between a father and daughter.

Hamilton -- intentionally race-baiting

Fun House is excellent… and I’m sure all the Moms of Liberty pearl clutches are offended by it.

Kinky Boots too….
