And that is one of the reasons why Jill Stein ended up with an inordinate number of votes in the swing states.

This is worse than the Aleppo moment because of Suarez’s little quip about “Weebles.”

Yeah, not knowing who Uyghurs are isn't bad. But "Weebles" is a bad response for a subject you don't know.

+1

Anyone can have a brain fart. Making fun of something as “sounding funny” is both kind of xenophobic and just bad news.

^Absolutely.

Plus, it’s such a terrible response of a candidate for POTUS. Did he honestly think he was being asked about a made up name? “What’d you call it? Weebles? Oh, that’s a funny name!”

God, it’s embarrassing.

I heard his interview on CNN the day of Trump’s second indictment. He’s a conservative opportunist who is NOT ready for the big leagues.

Who wrote the headline? Do they really not know that the male spelling is “Francis”

In his defense, most Uyghurs have never heard of Miami

But none of them are vying to be President of the most powerful country in the world.

Good Lord, the IQ range of the conservative posters is in the single digits.

if you have a third grade familiarity with China, the other most important country in the world, you should know who the Uyghurs are

I agree that it's embarrassing - for really any educated adult, let alone a mayor of a major city, let alone a Presidential candidate

How is that in his defense? This is how Desantis started out on the presidential primary trail, too. He’s not doing very well either. You kind of need to be at least little informed about the broad sketches around the world.

It’s odd to me that you can whip up a little shock that someone doesn’t know the Frances/Francis split but that you haven’t expressed shock that not only does a gop presidential wannabe not know who the Uyghurs are, but also he made fun of it like it was thing to mock.

This is my new favorite thread.

Didn’t Hugh Hewitt ask TFG some question that he answered spectacularly ignorantly?
I know, I know, redundant.
Anyway, Hugh Hewitt is such a pseudo “thinker.”

Not knowing what’s happening to the Uyghurs in China is that bad. This is not some obscure little article. This is major news. If you read any daily newspaper you would recognize the name and what’s happening. Probably most Americans don’t read much but running for office requires the candidate to know the top stories.

I don’t like Suarez but if you read a newspaper everyday the pronunciation of Uyghurs is not readily apparent. I didn’t know it starts with a “wee” sound. The “uy” sound in Spanish sounds like an oi sound. So “oigurs” makes more sense to someone who speaks Spanish and English not weegars.

Sorry, there’s no excuse for it.

Who in the hell is only reading a newspaper to stay informed when you’re running for POTUS? If nothing else, shouldn’t you have a staff keeping you informed about world affairs?

Who is this nobody? Yawn.

I just read papers but as a candidate he must watch news TV along with papers. Or he should anyway.
