I suspect part of the reason is that we can afford professional cleaning services, so we tend not to have odors in our day-to-day lives that require ,asking by perfumes.

You don’t see a lot of Glade Plug-Ins or Yankee candles in finer homes.

OK, but OP is literally saying that her wealthy friends smell like something. So no, not all wealthy people (like yourself) are scent-free.

Welp, I’m another wealthy person who uses unscented. Seventh generation unscented laundry detergent. I hate fake smells from products.

Clean, good hygiene. Unscented laundry detergent for sure/no strong laundry scent of regular Tide or whatever. But if you’re wearing deodorant with a subtle scent, and hair product with a subtle scent, and you have fresh breath, and maybe used a body lotion with a small amount of scent at night … you’ll probably smell pretty good, if subtle. Fresh but not like you’ve doused yourself in perfume.

Me too! I hate the smell of detergent, air fresheners, chemical junk. And it actually makes my husband physically ill!

What detergents do you most commonly associate with UMC or just rich people in general?

Not as funny as what toilet paper do UMC people prefer - but still a giggle in the midst of all the existential angst that surrounds us …

Most well off people, at least old money, prefers fragrance free products especially wrt laundry detergent.

Exactly. I'll ask Elsa and get back to you. But my god I hope we don't smell like Tide Pods.

The smell of tide is revolting.

Unscented tide (the white bottle), and white vinegar.

I don’t know if we’re wealthy, probably not, but I think good detergent is worth it. Along with good dish soap and dishwashing liquid.
We use Tide or Persil.
