We are in a similar league. Probably because our team is the strongest in the league, our coaches let the kids pick their two individual events for every dual meet. |
It depends on your swimmer. If your swimmer is competitive in all four strokes, it’s typical for the swimmer to race the strokes they don’t swim on Saturday, on Monday. Otherwise, they should swim whatever stroke they need to improve time in to make the A meets on Saturday. Events at A meets are at coaches discretion, which is a whole different topic and mystifying in many cases. |
For the RMSC Rays coach Greene decides what each kid will swim and lets them know. If he thinks he doesn't have the adequate group to win Saturday's meet, he will call around on Thursday night to assemble the best RMSC lineup he can for Saturday. This is how you win league title after league title |
Who is this weird poster that is obsessed with the Rockville Rays, their coach, and the fact that the team is composed mostly of club swimmers? And does anyone really care (especially a team full of ringers who are competing for more important things at their club meets) that much about winning a summer league rec title? |

Probably Dave, such a narcissist. Coach Greene, if this is you, can you please stop coughing up loogies and spitting them on the pool deck??!!? |
We want to do this because we know one kid is very close and beating an A meet swimmer in some strokes but we can only see our own times online. Can’t see anyone else’s |

We are in NVSL. And doesn’t help that we have the same thing but it’s only A meet and everyone can only swim 2 strokes in A meets. |
And before someone tells me that should be enough, my kid is faster than the other swimmer but isn’t in the relay. |
Your kid is faster than the other swimmer in the relay in the stroke they swim in the relay? Does your kid swim in a meet but not in relay? If so, is your kid in the middle lane or is the relay swimmer in the middle lane? If relay swimmer is in middle lane I would tend to assume that the relay swimmer has a faster seed time, obtained at a b meet. If your kid is in the middle lane I would expect it is a bs answer like splits or favoritism. Either way I would ask coach or team rep. |
But can’t you figure out looking at the NVSL A meet results whether your kid is actually faster in any stroke than the kids swimming in the A meet? |
Your team doesn't circulate a ladder? Our team does after each meet. |
Or even if they don’t circulate the ladder, they never provide the results of a meet, they only give each kid their own times? This doesn’t make any sense. I’m aware of some teams that don’t circulate the ladder, but I’m not aware of any that don’t provide complete meet results. |
