I miss the old FCPS

Our fancy private school calls it graduation and even plays that graduation song and has them dress in gowns. I thought we were just getting all that because we paid money for it, but I guess FCPS is giving diplomas away for free.

FCPS sucks.

Per the title of your post, I thought this was going to be about textbooks half-day Mondays, and no block schedules in HS

Are you the OP who wants their happy, well established involved 6th grader kid to switch to private bc you're disappointed in fcps?

Uhhhhh, I teach at Greenbriar West and it was listed as a promotion. Very possible some people slipped and said graduation, but it was officially a promotion. (Unless you’re talking about GBE, which I can’t speak to.)

(Although this seems like a goofy thing to fixate on. Where I grew up and previously taught it was referred to as “elementary school graduation.” No one assumed it meant you were done with school.)

My DS and his friends called it a graduation, it could be possible that the principal didn’t hear me and I hear something about FCPS.

Also in the OP, you said “her” referring to the principal. GBW’s principal and assistant principal are men. So IDK who you talked to.

So you’re basing this on what a couple of 12-year-olds called it?

But yeah, I guess whatever they do before they go to middle school is notable for some. Not the battle I’d pick but that’s just me.

I miss kindness, respect , parents and teachers being on a team and not just pointing fingers. And I miss the days when FCPS cared about students and teachers more than paperwork and legal box checking.

Yes, the good old days.

What are you talking about, OP? Our school is having a 6th grade promotion. The middle schooler next door had an 8th grade promotion today. You are just making things up.

Also if one word causes you to think FCPS is going down hill, then you have more serious issues!!!

Anonymous wrote:I agree with OP. Calling it a graduation implies that fcps condones ending school after 6th grade. And we wonder why dropout rates are so bad. SMH.

Nope! No FCPS elementary schools called it as graduation! The post like this just troll and talk bad on FCPS! Just stop!!!

Are you the same person who thought spirit day was designer clothes day?
