Does street name impact your choice of house purchase?

When a house on Stirrup Cup Lane came up as we were driving with our real estate agent, I just said “pass”. We now live on Desdemona Ct.

No... but I had a street name that was so long that the IRS had problems with it (George Washington Carver Dr.) I was randomly audited, never got the letter (because they cut off the last 6 letters of the name and USPS wouldn't deliver to George Washington Dr.) and then the issues kept going on. Friends would try to shorten it to G.W. Carver Drive and USPS hated that too.

I lived on Stirrup Lane! No one got it right and always heard "Syrup" lane. People asked us constantly what a stirrup was.

Wow, this was back in 2015! Whites-only community on Long Island.

Having lived on Governor Thomas Bladen Way and suffered through the MVA trying to figure out how to get it on my license (with a unit number too) I’d seriously hesitate to buy a street with a long name. Or maybe something hard to spell? But probably not an outright deal breaker.

Have friends who live on Creamcup Lane and they had misgivings about buying it.

There are some really unfortunate street names around here. There was a nice house on Spanker Ave.

All these names are terrible! I didn’t want to live on a numbered street, so I definitely would have passed on many of these street names too. I live on Hamilton and think it’s perfect.

I once refused to look at an otherwise nice house on Poverty Lane.

How about Money Center road?

omg I wish I'd paid more attention to this. West Ironwood Reserve Way. What a pita spelling that out all the time.

We were deciding between two houses and it really came down to not wanting to live on Ann fitzhugh lane… she was a lovely person but I already have to spell my first and last name and didn’t want to always have to spell my street name.

We live on a basic tree street name and never have to spell it

Interesting thread, OP. I think about this every time we go to the Soccerplex in Germantown/Boyd’s MD and pass Majestic Prince Drive.
