Varies a lot. Our school does a promotion ceremony during the day for just students but a separate awards night the week before, right after school where parents are welcome. No idea why it’s done this way. |
| Do they not invite the parents of the students who did not get awards? I thought our school didn't do it but now I'm wondering if they had one and my child just didn't get an award. They did have a 4.0 all years and did complete SSL hours. |
For the big in school, SSL, Honor rolls, almost every one gets an award, I think there was just an email to all parents. For the actual single kids award, I received a letter in the mail saying my child would be receiving something and inviting me to attend (in the evening) |
My DC got those big awards and not a single kid award. We got the invitation email too. |
Same. Got all the emails and the letter in the mail -- kid only received the academic award that half the school got, and the SSL award that half the school also got. The real bummer though is that my kid has 3 teachers who are not primarily 8th grade teachers -- and none of those 3 were given an opportunity to give awards to their 8th graders. If 3 kids in Math 8 get to win awards, I don't know why my Honors Geometry student is ineligible just because their teacher only has 1 class of 8th graders. |
