The father of a girl I went to middle school with sat down too hard on the toilet and somehow that killed him. This was days before our middle school "graduation." I remember seeing her walking home in her gown all alone, because everyone else was home grieving.

Hit a stump while on a riding mower, flew off, and ran over himself.

Friend was on a ladder working on his house, fell off and hit his head and died at the hospital a few hours later. He had been married only six months and his wife was pregnant with their first child.

Not really a freak accident b/c he was always a terrible driver so it was bound to happen one day, but my grandfather drove into a tree on his street and died. At his funeral everyone said how lucky it was since they were always afraid he'd kill himself AND other people in an accident one day. He was 64 so it wasn't old age, just truly bad driving.

I think maybe PP is sharing their middle school awareness/recollection.

I know someone whose colon burst while on the toilet. Wasn’t fatal but could have been. I know someone else who slipped off the toilet and hit the tub, getting a concussion and a broken arm.

That sounds a like cover story for an overdose or suicide. Really sad.

My ex's coworker died in an avalanche while backcountry skiing in CO. He had just made partner at their consulting firm in NYC, his wife was pregnant with their first kid. He was on a trip with buddies from college, they went skiing annually. All of them were really into backcountry. It was a gorgeous spring day, the temps got too warm, and the snow came crashing down the mountain. It was all over the NY Post and a media spectacle.

This was overseas.
Friend's family went to visit a local dam (like Hoover Dam size.) An uncle leaned against a railing which wasn't secured properly and tumbled into the churning water below and drowned by the time they got to him.

I won't trust the fixtures at any tourist attractions since hearing this, even in the U.S. I'm not going to trust that someone has checked to make sure each bolt is secure.

Yes, I 'know. I thought so too even though I posted, but I'm hoping it can be a PSA of sorts.

Maybe he had a stroke. They come on out of the blue so there is no prediction.
