Come on, DCUM, fuel my existential anxiety on this fine Friday. |
They posted a rubbernecky thread on DCUM and then had a heavy shelf fall on them. |
My uncle was stung by a bee while swimming in a lake and drowned. |
I know someone who was impaled with a rogue flying beach umbrella on a family vacation. |
A rock flew up from a truck and struck her car, windshield and her. She died instantly. |
Person was at a picnic. Drank from a coke can that had a bee in it. Was stung in the throat and died. |
My doctor died the day after he went snorkeling on vacation. A very bizarre, and sad, secondary drowning situation.
A friend’s boyfriend lost his dad and brother when their fishing boat was struck by lightning. |
Toddler killed by garage door. This was in the early 90s, they've made them safer now. |
Pipe came off back of truck on interstate at high speed, came directly through the windshield of my friend’s mom’s car. She was in the passenger seat and dad was driving. Pipe went cleanly through her skull. |
My dad was an electrician for a large utility company in California. They worked on high voltage transmission lines and in underground vaults.
His best friend from work was a 1st generation Egyptian-American guy. We played with his kids at family BBQs, our moms got along, etc. Really nice family. My dad’s best friend was electrocuted while working on a pole 50 feet off the ground. Killed and burnt to a crisp. The news helicopter showed the rescue, with his lifeless corpse hanging from the power pole. It was 5pm on a weekday, we watched it on the local news. My dad was crying like a baby, I vividly remember the images on the TV. The risks in that line of work are apparent. But it was such a freakish way to pass, being recorded by the local NBC news station helicopter for everyone to consume on TV. |
Hiking alone on the PCT and stumbled off a cliff. A sad death for a wonderful man. |
My uncle went to his basement gym, hopped on the treadmill but somehow tripped and fell off. Hit his head and died. Wasn't found until Tuesday when he didn't go to the office because it was a long weekend and he was a bachelor. Be safe out there, everyone |
He was working on his car (underneath the car) and it collapsed on top of him. This was in the late 80s. |
I know a super healthy 35yo that had the same thing happen. She lived, but had s TBI and needed a full year recovery to learn to walk again and everything |
Ghouls! |
