Tell me everything about Fairfield University

Anywayyyyy..... back to the poster's question, rather than bickering about whether it's BS that someone hasn't heard of it.....

Yes, seniors rent beach houses.

Do you mean the student body's families skew conservative or do you mean the educators at the school are on the conservative side?

They have a great business program.

-Beautiful campus, town & location--convenient to NYC and Boston
-Gives merit aid; whether that is significant enough is in the eye of the beholder. Don't expect the cost to be under about $36k/year
-Has a ''Country Club Republican'' vibe
-Very wealthy student body
-Strong in ''practical'' fields like nursing, finance, and health sciences (I know someone who graduated last May and is finishing their first year of med school)
-Supposedly kids are kind, willing to try new things, and inclusive

Agreed. This school is very popular with my Northeast, Catholic-ish circle. It has many good things going for it.

I would agree with the above. The two people I know who recently went there fit this. Very pretentious and not terribly bright, but I wouldn't hold that against the student body. Definitely Uber-Catholic and preppy, "Country Club Republican".

PP, you tend to repeatedly post in threads about certain schools. I know you really think you’re doing something by labeling teenagers as not terribly bright, but it just exposes you as a jack hole.

I would say it attracts very similar student body to Boston College and Villanova (obviously less selective, but in personality/background...similar). Providence College is also an easy comparison.

Fairfield is a solid Jesuit school with excellent preprofessional programs and a beautiful campus. It’s on par with schools like Loyola MD, Scranton and St Joe’s but with a nicer campus. Graduates of these schools tend to do very well.

As an aside, for graduates of a Connecticut high schools to suggest that they never heard of it might not be a lie, but lie or no lie it doesn’t reflect well on them.

+1 I was just going to say exactly that. I also grew up in Fairfield County and yes I knew Fairfield well and I'm sure many people from our HS attended. To say you have never heard of it, and living IN Fairfield county, tells me alot more about you than it does about the school.

A "please" would be nice.

I grew up in Fairfield and worked in a grocery store near Fairfield U. I was always relieved to see Fairfield U. students in my line because I knew they would be nice.

Solid school and beautiful campus.

OP, even though it's summer and students won't really be on campus, you should visit. It's a lovely area in the summer and your child may fall in love with the town and beach. (Many seniors rent beach houses.)

Agreed. You took a perfectly neutral/positive comment and twisted it to be mean.

Reputation is sort of safety school for wealthy preppy kids in new england/new york.
Nice campus.
Party school. Big drinking culture (true of many schools, just figured I'd note that it's definitely definitely true of this one)
A bit on the conservative side - the kid I know came home more conservative after hanging with peers who are more conservative.
Kids seem happy there. Upperclassmen tend to live on or near the beach, and I mean, who wouldn't love that.
Good school spirit.

I agree!
