In other words, Gen Z doesn't understand that to be successful in this world, one has to be first a coward, then a self-serving toad devoid of human-approximating qualities, who has to ingratiate themselves to grudge-bearing perpetual bullies to ensure that they aren't victims of those grudges. Well thank you for this piercing insight into the mind of a Trumpie. The rest of us are counting our blessings that Gen Z, and future generations, will in the most part not "understand" this pathology and stay well clear of it, and with that the Republican party that's the refuge of cynical hoodlums like those described by you. |
+100 That was some dark sht. |
On the contrary. The doubts republican voters have about Trump were never probed by the CNN host. It was basically entertainment for all involved, both the Rs who love to watch Trump push back and the Ds who like to watch Trump get pushed. There was never any serious discussion about any of the concerns Republicans voters have about Trump's decisions or electability. |
Do yall understand you're responding to a D? No Republican sees it the way the pp described. |
Serious discussion and trump don't belong in the same sentence. He is not a serious person. He dismisses complex problems with ridiculous one liners and his supporters lap it up. "The war in Ukraine will be over in 24 hours" he claims if he is elected. He is a joke. |
Okay, then don't be surprised when Trump gets the nomination. They basically let Trump control the interview, asked nothing of consequence to Republicans that aren't in the tank for Trump, and helped advance Trump as a candidate. |
Been hearing this since 2015 and I don't think it's a lack of understanding, it's that there aren't any clear, understandable motivations of Republican voters. What would you suggest Trump be asked about that was different than the questions posed. |
This has been said before and it is correct. The way Trump ridicules and belittles privileged white liberals explains his appeal to conservatives AND immigrants. Speaking as an immigrant, I mistrust right wing nuts, but I DESPISE the condescending, arrogant, hypocritical liberals whose company I suffered until I left the northeast. I hate the pretense they make of speaking for POC when they avoid any of us on their level and make time only for POC they can look down on and play savior to. I hate how they pretend to know all about what the poor want when they live off the same unearned fruits of white privilege that conservatives do. I hate that they exploit the less fortunate for power. I hate their benevolent, infantilizing smiles. I hate their foolish, awful dogmas that put cross-dressing men in women’s spaces and deny police protection to actually vulnerable people. I hate everything about white liberals. Every time Trump clowns one the way he did that idiot who moderated the forum, something in me smiles deeply. He might be a jerk, but he’s not a liar, phony, or conniving backstabber exploiting the plight of POC for a platform. |
This. |
How the hell does legalizing migrants help American workers, you buffoon? |

Trump is Lucy with the football for Republicans. Despite delivering L after L after L. Maybe he'll win this time!
But I think OP is correct that any discussion of Trump's "policies" by people who support him is just window dressing. Even when he does a 180 on any particular "policy" he supposedly has, his followers continue to support him because it's got nothing to do with policy. It's just hating liberals and doing so publicly and viciously. That's it. Not even for what they're doing or not doing. Just because a certain segment of the population has been taught to hate liberals. |
I didn’t grown up here and even I hate liberals after living among them for over a decade. No one has to be taught to hate fake clowns whose policies are horrible. |
Are these real flesh and blood liberals or just abstract "liberals" generally? Or maybe randos on the Internet? Because I hate the liberals I used to hear Rush Limbaugh describe way back when I listened to his radio show. I don't know how many of them actually exist, but sounded terrible! |
There were Republican voters asking the questions. |
Conservative here. He’s very wrong. We are not attracted to ideas that destroy the country. We want someone to put a stop to the crap that the Obama administration started and the Biden administration is finishing. We are not interested in what the Democratic Party is selling. Stop lying. Stop cheating. Stop keeping the border wide open and lying that it isn’t. Stop being soft on crime, because if you want gun control, trust me, being soft on crime won’t get you any sort of compromise. |
