There was never any serious discussion about any of the concerns Republicans voters have about Trump's decisions or electability.

Okay, then don't be surprised when Trump gets the nomination. They basically let Trump control the interview, asked nothing of consequence to Republicans that aren't in the tank for Trump, and helped advance Trump as a candidate.

Been hearing this since 2015 and I don't think it's a lack of understanding, it's that there aren't any clear, understandable motivations of Republican voters.

What would you suggest Trump be asked about that was different than the questions posed.

But I think OP is correct that any discussion of Trump's "policies" by people who support him is just window dressing. Even when he does a 180 on any particular "policy" he supposedly has, his followers continue to support him because it's got nothing to do with policy. It's just hating liberals and doing so publicly and viciously. That's it. Not even for what they're doing or not doing. Just because a certain segment of the population has been taught to hate liberals.

I didn’t grown up here and even I hate liberals after living among them for over a decade. No one has to be taught to hate fake clowns whose policies are horrible.

Are these real flesh and blood liberals or just abstract "liberals" generally? Or maybe randos on the Internet? Because I hate the liberals I used to hear Rush Limbaugh describe way back when I listened to his radio show. I don't know how many of them actually exist, but sounded terrible!

Conservative here. He’s very wrong. We are not attracted to ideas that destroy the country. We want someone to put a stop to the crap that the Obama administration started and the Biden administration is finishing. We are not interested in what the Democratic Party is selling. Stop lying. Stop cheating. Stop keeping the border wide open and lying that it isn’t. Stop being soft on crime, because if you want gun control, trust me, being soft on crime won’t get you any sort of compromise.
