1. It’s not about economic anxiety 2. It’s not about social/racial/work issues “ give the people “Trumpism without Trump.” Surely the voters who saw Trump as the answer to their grievances would jump at the opportunity to vote for such a leader, if only given the chance. This was the theory of the Ron DeSantis campaign. I say “was” rather than “is,” because even though he hasn’t announced yet, it sort of feels like it’s over. ” 3. Political science tries to figure out what people want or believe based on what they say. But in the realm of personal relationships, humans are pretty bad at explaining why they prefer some individuals over others. 4. At a gut level, people understand that part of the reason DeSantis won’t talk to the media is that he’s afraid of them, while pretending that he’s standing on some kind of principle. We all know that if DeSantis goes on CNN, he might be forced into a gaffe, or his voice might crack at the wrong time in response to a hostile question. 5. Some men worry about saying the wrong thing when talking to a woman, but the higher status male is the guy who can say whatever he wants. This is the difference between DeSantis and Trump. 6. The Republican voter is not attracted to ideas, but has a sense of alienation from elites and mainstream institutions, and simply wants someone loud and obnoxious enough to fight with them. And since he mostly just wants to grill and politics is a secondary concern in his life, he is not tuning in unless the show is particularly entertaining. No one has fully describe the WHY of trumps success like Hanania has. |

Trump was the only politician to advocate for lower immigration and stopped HXXXB processing.
He has my vote Democrats gave US workers the middle finger a long time ago. |
Did you miss the fact that we’re in a labor shortage and could use more immigration? |
Maybe that’s a problem for you if you’re in the ownership class. It’s great for US workers. |

Big strong tall man good
We need a daddy figure to tell us what to do |
Doesn’t Trump use a lot of foreign workers on his own properties? Why doesn’t he hire Americans? |
Good question. Why does our system benefit employers and those who didn't come here illegally, at the expense of those who waited in line to get in, and those who were born here? Oh, because owners are greedy, and customers want everything cheap, and then people here illegally can get taken advantage of because they're put in a vulnerable position. |
| Republican woman here. There is too much sexual tension in your analysis of a geriatric former president. I mean, you do you. But, it's weird. |
And I believe it was the Democrats who support higher minimum wages, stronger union rights, and Affordable Care Act, all of which benefit US workers. |
"If you want me to pay more taxes, change the tax code. But she won't do it because all her donors are against it." |
I always trip you guys up by suggesting that we legalize most of the migrants. Then when you make excuses not to your true colors are revealed and you find some other reason why that can’t happen. Round and round we go. |

The CNN town hall where Trump destroyed that woman clinched the deal. If you hate the people Trump hates, you’re not going to have any problems. Democrat politicians aren’t going to look to punish you any worse if you beat up one of their allies or one of their enemies. They just see if they can prove you did it, and they prosecute if they can prove it. No big deal.
But if you like people Trump hates, then you got problems. Trump will turn the screws on you if he has any excuse to do so. So why would you jump to protest and ally yourself with this gay guy and that BLM woman and those trans thems? If he’s going to kick your teeth in for associating with them, then why would you associate yourself with them? Why bring that trouble on yourselves? That’s what Gen Z doesn’t understand, that your actions and statements and friends and enemies live forever. So you better get on the right side of the people who can really hurt their enemies, and will reward their friends. That’s just good business. That’s Trump. |
Shorter you: “I’m a terrible person who hides behind bullies. I think I’m smart.” |

I think this view of Trump is pretty democrat-centric and can be used to explain the total s-show that was the Trump/CNN townhall. The townhall was everything a democrat would want to say/ask of Trump and nothing a Republican would be interested in to help decide between Trump and another candidate. It let Trump put on a show--precisely what CNN wanted, and the audience loved. But for a primary voter who is undecided, it didn't do... anything. It illuminated nothing that is of interest to actual R primary voters apart from being entertained by Trump vs Liberal Media.
And I think that part of it is that the left is incapable of understanding the motivations and concerns of Republican voters, so they couldn't assemble a list of questions R voters would actually have for Trump if they tried. But part of it is that everyone loves the Trump show, the left included, so they really just wanted him to get on stage and do his thing. |
So in simpler terms Trump voters are too stupid to care about thoughts and ideas and would rather be whipped up into a hate filled frenzy. |
