Yes, you were wrong. Standing in a church hall at a family event, you chose to escalate an already bad situation. Mature people either ignore that kind of thing or attempt to de-escalate. You apparently thought, "Huh, how can I make tension in a church at a family event WORSE."

I never said she was right, but last time I checked, this thread was written by an OP (hi, OP, by the way), and he is only in charge of HIS behavior.
