Why is the McLean high pyramid over crowded with crappy buildings and teachers but pays high tax

Should this be the priority over all else? I mean cooper and langley are / have gotten major renovations and expansions ?

Mclean high looks like a 3rd work slum school

Do you want to look at all of the infrastructure around the metro that the county contributed too?

A bunch of spoiled brats. Send them all to Justice HS.

Justice high is undergoing a major reno https://www.fcps.edu/news/important-justice-high-school-addition-update

Justice is not getting a full renovation. It is getting an addition. It is overcrowded, just not as overcrowded as McLean. Why it got an addition and McLean has not has never been explained by the School Board - could be because FCPS got its projections wrong several years ago or maybe it’s because they think their commitment to “equity” means favoring a poorer school over a wealthier one. People often ascribe motivations to the School Board, but no one really knows because they refuse to explain their reasoning (or lack thereof).

Send your kid to private school, losers.

You should have checked out the schools before you moved there OP. You don't sound very smart at all.

That area subsidizes the rest of the county.

It's really not everyone else's fault that McLean mommies didn't do their research and were instead just focused on the name of their town. Deal with it or get a job so you can help daddy pay for private school.

Property taxes based on % of home value? Yes, it's a choice.

Mismanagement of funds by fcps

Of this there can be no doubt - the Dunn Loring project is Exhibit A - $60M that could have gone to expanding both Chantilly and McLean with money left over instead going to the construction of a new ES that is surrounded by under-enrolled schools and for which there is no need in that location for years to come, if ever.

Fairfax County is a grade A waster (is that a word) of funds.

Ah, the usual clowns have shown up right on schedule.

People in the district reasonably could have expected FCPS to treat them equitably when it came to school facilities. And the county has been actively encouraging people to move into the district, which includes just under 1/2 of Tysons, for years.

Yuck! That is gross. No one likes to go to school in filth. Is it really bad at McLean? I ask because we went to a few open houses in McLean this weekend. My DC will start HS next year.

OP could be someone in the MHS district obsessed with the current state of the facilities or they could be someone who lives outside the district who thinks making a big deal about the state of the facilities is a good way to attack a rival school. This is an anonymous forum so you really don’t know.

Many of the pictures are of the bathrooms, which will be renovated this summer. However, bathrooms at even fully renovated schools can also be gross.

We have a friend whose child got a concussion from the roof caving in, they still haven't fixed the roof at McLean. i have no idea where the money is going and it seems that they would rather risk a lawsuit and injuries over fixing the school

It’s a good school but the physical plant is very subpar. I don’t think it impacts the day to day that much but when my kids go to other high schools in FCPS and in other districts they are always shocked at how much nicer they are than Mclean.

Can you corroborate this? I am rather skeptical this happened as I believe it would have been covered in the school newspaper and no such incident has been reported.

how does pointing out something even more awful justify this? Take a look at ponte verda high in Florida or carmel high in Indiana, this is what we should be striving for, not a failing over taxes garbage up north. you'll have everyone going private.

No need to do that. Just look at neighboring Yorktown, W-L and Langley high schools for a stark difference in the quality and maintenance of school facilities.
