Why is it that the one of the most highly taxed school pyramids has such a dumpy middle and high school building. not to mention overcrowded elementary schools?
Should this be the priority over all else? I mean cooper and langley are / have gotten major renovations and expansions ? Mclean high looks like a 3rd work slum school |

A school is made of the teachers and students - not the building.
You know that right? |
| You realize middle school and high school kids don’t give a crap about renovated facilities, right? |
| You should move to some enclave school district in CT with $30k/year property taxes (that’s surrounded by languishing slums) if that’s your thought process. |
have you seen this https://www.instagram.com/mclean.rot/ |
A bunch of spoiled brats. Send them all to Justice HS. |
how does pointing out something even more awful justify this? Take a look at ponte verda high in Florida or carmel high in Indiana, this is what we should be striving for, not a failing over taxes garbage up north. you'll have everyone going private. |
Justice high is undergoing a major reno https://www.fcps.edu/news/important-justice-high-school-addition-update |
| There are literal rats at McLean HS, some even in classrooms |
| Mclean area is taxed more highly than other parts of Fairfax county? Do tell. |
Property taxes based on % of home value? Yes, it's a choice. |
Mismanagement of funds by fcps |
Longfellow received a very nice renovation and expansion @2013. The only overcrowded ES out of the 9 that feed to McLean is Kent Gardens and the boundaries likely will change within the next year. Your rhetoric is over the top. |
That area subsidizes the rest of the county. |
The student journalists at McLean have written extensively about the overcrowding and maintenance issues. The School Board celebrates these students when they win awards annually, and then turns around and spends as little as possible on maintenance, while building additions to other, less crowded schools. So the kids do give a crap about the state of their facilities, but they also know there are more important things about their school. |
