If someone got out of their car in traffic to confront you, what would you do?

I watched a show yesterday where a young woman cut a man off in traffic. He got mad and drove up beside her and shot her. She and her car then crashed into a big tree and she died. Witnesses confirmed it as well as video evidence. Please be careful and drive safely.

I would do what you did OP. In fact I did although it involved a biker. He cut through a gas station in the dark and as I swerved to avoid him, I shook my head. Because duh, it's pretty bone-headed to take a 10 ft shortcut if it puts you directly in the path of a moving vehicle. The biker then turned his bike around and rode up next to me at the pump where I had parked and started screaming at me. His complaint was that I had shaken my head. He would not move and kept screaming and so finally I cracked my window and said I was calling the police.

I know it sounds insane but it completely shook me up. I wound up leaving the gas station without filling up because all I could think was that someone who would get this provoked over a non-issue (I visibly shook my head!) is inherently unstable and might be lurking around for a confrontation.

So I sympathize with you OP and I would never engage with anyone who sought to confront me like this, ever.

I'd get him/his car on video. Post it online and have the internet do its thing to identify him and cancel him.

But, what if the other person is Black? Are you willing to get someone killed just because they got a little mad in traffic?

Stupid has no race.

Race has nothing to do with what happened here. So tired of people bringing race into everything.

I almost promise you that you didn’t merge as safely as you said, I read your comment to this reply. But his reaction was scary and over the top. If I would’ve been in your shoes, I would’ve try to drive away if he had kept yelling at me. I also would’ve tried to record the interaction if I could do so safely and call the police.

This happened to me the other day. I just apologized to de-escalate because the people who do that kind of thing are the kind of people that shoot people.

If he is willing to attack a perfect stranger like this without worrying about being shot, then hell yes!!! Has all of the common sense gone out the window?

I've told them I am calling the police.

OP here. It was a white guy. No need to spin off hypotheticals.

I don’t understand the unflagging need to victim-blame. I guess it helps you believe it could never happen to you?

taken a photo of the license to report to police. This is road rage that ended well. Getting out of your car while driving- because you are pissed off is not a normal reaction. Race not relevant.

Drivers are rude.
Such attitude.
When. I. Show. My. Piece.
Complaints cease.

My mom who came here as an immigrant in the 70s has been driving the mean streets of the dmv for decades. She never gers traffic tickets and younger women and men especially white are always in a hurry as if a cop is after them and inch closer so nobody can merge into their lane even when she has her signals on. They're so selfish and crazy!
