I run outside all summer before the sun rises. I can't stand compression shorts so I wear Nike running shorts and UA shirts/tanks. I live in the desert without humidity but it's already 90 by 6 am so I have to go before the sun comes up. |
We’re talking about clothing for exercise, not general summer apparel. Cotton is the worst thing you can wear for an outdoor workout in humidity. Synthetic fabrics have come a long way and absolutely help those of us who exercise outdoors in humidity feel less uncomfortable. I trained for a marathon here, in the summer, many years ago. My cotton shirts were sodden by the end of my training runs, with sweat pooling in my shoes. It was *awful*. |
I agree with the pp- for shirts I prefer 100 percent cotton. It is more breathable. I get way more hot and uncomfortable in synthetic shirts. And yes, I mean for exercising. |
Any rec for a woman's tank top, with a wide neck, and wide arm holes? Length doesn't matter. I want it to be very breezy, but still have coverage.
Lululemn's sculpt tank is good, but it has a high neck. Is there something similar with a lower neck line? |
Also dislike heat and humidity. It takes time for the body to adjust to the difference in temperatures. Early mornings are good- even if it's humid you aren't competing with the sun. I started running in a running skirt that has built-in compression shorts. A sports bra and a tank top - believe it or not - made of a very lightweight wool! It wicks sweat away from your body and doesn't stick to your body the way so many of these new fabrics do. My doctor told me to expect at least 2 weeks for my breathing and body to adjust to the heat. |
Check Athleta. They have lightweight, breezy tanks that are looser fit (but not too loose). Racer backs tend to have bigger arm holes IMO but higher necklines. I have 2 Athleta tanks and they are all I wear when I exercise outside during summer. |
