| Dear friend moved to Salt Lake City for work. Friend is Indian, spouse is white. They left as soon as they could find new jobs - the racism and bigotry was beyond belief. This was in the past 5 years, so recent |
I’ve actually hear University of Utah is not super Mormon because it’s attracts the people in state who didn’t want to go to BYU. One of my friends grew up in SLC and is Episcopalian and had a very diverse friend group growing up because the non Mormons find each other. |

I’ve been to Mormon events, churches and even the Temple. The cult of it is designed to make insiders and outsiders. Someone I knew had to leave SLC because he would not convert.
While in Utah, a man at a hotel would not rent a room to us because we didn’t have wedding rings on. At the Temple, the word was out to wear skirts and the Mormons could ID each other. Who wants to put up with that? Much rather be in Boulder or somewhere more inclusive. |
At Mormon church, people were nice but only men could make decisions. They did at least allow the one Black man to do something but no women at all.

| Mormons. If you aren't Mormon and want a social life, why go? Most people don't drink coffee or alcohol and their lives are ruled by the Mormon church. |
| The battle for water rights and access is real. SLC is facing a significant water crisis - beyond conservation efforts - with some areas using water trucks. |
Hi Utah rep! Hope you enjoy your stint in the area! |
| There are plenty of nice places to go to college on the east coast, why move to Utah? |
|
It’s one-third mormon - that seems like a lot.
Also, it’s only 27% out of state -compared to half at boulder 85 percent live off campus - including many Utah state students who live at home Might be great option for some but it ain’t the same as boulderoe UVM |
Hard to believe anything you wrote because only Mormons in good standing can enter a Mormon temple. |

The President of the University of Utah describes it as a large commuter school. But, they may be building more dorms.
Utah is beautiful, but many are afraid of, or concerned about, Mormons. |
Funny! |
| The last thing we want here is more transplants, so keep believing all the negativity. We don’t need more people on the ski runs or trails or driving up prices anymore than they have. The skiing is significantly better than East coast skiing- you can’t even make a comparison. University of Utah is also much closer to skiing than Boulder. It’s an urban campus and doesn’t feel like a college town, but it also doesn’t feel like a commuter school. Re Mormons, we have very few Mormon neighbors, but they are generally nice people and their children are fantastic babysitters. Also, Mormons stick together so much so that you forget about them if you you aren’t one. Diversity is a bigger issue outside of SLC and Park City. University of Utah is nothing like BYU. People are conflating the two. There are plenty of bars. SLC has a big LGBT population. It’s a great place if you love the outdoors. |
| It has an amazing dance conservatory. |
