Anyone know what this means for APS? Arlington family made a complaint. https://www.the74million.org/article/everybody-is-frustrated-feds-probe-virginias-handling-of-special-education/?fbclid=IwAR15nNiIThP5LFin9-k2MAUqeJYoAfyV7cyfcZnJe5vEMKYSev65LmW7Xcw |
This could be a really big deal. After the Fairfax resolution, DOE has been clear they are looking at other Virginia districts for failures during pandemic. |
They really need to look at ACPS, too. |
Any resolution impacting VDOE should apply also to the individual districts who failed to provide FAPE during pandemic. |
Yes, this will become a big deal and blamed on Youngkin, when it was a problem not addressed by Northam due to the lead time associated with the investigation. |
Youngkin may feel the blame, but all of the “fixes” will be stuck on the backs of teachers, families and kids. Teachers will have to do more paperwork and see kids less, but have to make up the hours. More will quit especially the SPED teachers of which APS still has 37 ish vacancies. Families still won’t be receiving services and the kids will continue growing up without what they need. Who cares if Youngkin or Northam gets the blame, the families, teachers and kids will feel the pain. |
This is what you care about? Who gets blamed for it? |
Special ed is going to bleed public schools dry until the Rs get their way and we all go to religious private schools. |
Maybe if public schools didn't treat special education like a leper colony and then waste big $$$ on lawyers to fight parents then they'd be less likely to have the feds breathing down their neck. |
Yes, until people finally understand the the problem with public education is democratic leadership on the teacher’s union payroll carrying out the poor educational policies driven by the unions, all students, but especially special needs students will suffer. |
