What car should I buy

You can’t stick a mountain bike in an SUV, not even sure if a snowboard fits in a small SUV. You would need a roof rack for that stuff anyway. Also, if you drive on snow, icy roads a 4 wheel drive is useful. Comes standard on most Subarus and is an option on rav4 and crv

You need a station wagon. Get a used Audi Allroad or a low mileage used VW Alltrack (they are discontinued but in high demand).

Those are like $40-50k.

She is smart. She don't want to buy new. She can find a 2-3 year certified pre-owned for 30k

Buy yourself a used Ford F150 truck, crew cab design. Plenty of room for everyone and a trailer bed to put your stuff in. If you can stump up a bit more than 30k, you will be able to find one that's a hybrid.

+1, or a used Volvo V60.

A sedan like an Accord, Camry, or Sonata would fit the bill too.

Pretty good bargains if you look enough.

We love our Tesla, plus Elon is changing the world for the better by destroying the gas guzzlers. I say go for a model Y

And it has pollution concerns (battery disposal) of its own.

I'd suggest for her to purchase a Honda Odessey

With a 30k budget I would get an AWD Prius. Reliable, safe, and great gas mileage.
