When is PG TAG Lottery?

Are you sure that's what it means? Ours says "application approved." I was thinking that just meant the application was complete, and the lottery would proceed soon. What did yours say?

There was a button that said Accept Seat or something like that.
It's hard to see....look above the Withdraw Application button.

Scribes is not being managed well today -lol. The seat approved only means the county has approved your child entering the lottery for TAG. Remember that anyone could initially sign up for TAG placement before we even knew if our children qualified for TAG (think 2nd graders, new to county, and retesters). I called today and they said the lottery will not take place until April 24th.

Call 301-952-6300 to speak to the pupil accounting office, not the TAG office. The TAG office has nothing to do with the lottery. You will absolutely know your child’s status when you receive a detailed email saying “PGCPS - Application Waitlisted” or “PGCPS - Seat Offered!” in the subject line. Hope this helps and GOOD LUCK!

What on earth? I had an option to accept the seat. PGCPS is continually dropping the ball on this process.

The note I received from PGCPS said we will be notified April 15th

"There was an error with the system; it has now been corrected. You will receive the correct notification for the TAG (Talented and Gifted) program on 04/15/2023."

Tag emails sent this evening. We received a seat at a TAG center, but not sure if we will accept. Any thoughts on Glenarden woods elementary?

We love Glenarden Woods. My son was there since 2nd grade. The teachers were great and he made lots of good friends who are his current classmates still. The bus situation can be a nightmare so we carpooled with 2 other families.

my son got wait-listed at a tag center. The position in number 1 for 5th grade. What are the odds of placement? I imagine it's not going to happen.

I got an email that we were waitlisted for a TAG Center (low-thirties). It's the same waitlist number that we received last week when the emails and notifications were sent out in error. I'm disappointed because I'm not sure if this time the notification is correct, or if its the same error because the waitlist number is the exact same as before, but being let down twice really sucks.

Yep, we got the exact same waitlist position as a week ago. Our number is in the sixties for an entrance grade. We aren’t coming off the waitlist and I’m extremely disappointed but I knew they were unlikely to rerun the lottery because of the fact that they released numbers, even if in error. Rerunning would actually be unfair to those who actually got a slot the first time. In the end, que sera sera.
