We’re in a private k-8 and got into both schools we applied to.
Your HOS/Director should go to bat for you. Be sure to let your first choice school know they are your first choice. Movement does happen. |
Sorry, but that’s also a nutty outcome. To end up boarding when you didn’t want to? |
| so all the Langley kids got waitlisted this year after the fruitful past cycle? |
Our Langley niece got into 4/5. |
THIS |
What schools? Outplacement killed it last year but so far not hearing great things for this year. We're in 7th so will have to go through this next year |
No one said the K-8 was Langley and I think it’s unfair to assume this. Last year, my Langley kid got into all of the schools they applied to. Also, general consensus from parents was that they were happy with placements. |
PP. look at comments above. Langley definitely did great last year. All the feedback I'm hearing from friends with kids in 8th this year is that this year hasn't been as successful (yet) |
Sorry I know kids will talk and I'm not outing myself on DCUM! I will say that she has top stats. |

OP, I can only imagine how you must be feeling. I’m so sorry.
I personally would consider my public option rather than grovel for a spot at a school that didn’t really want my child. |
| That sucks |
| Hearing similar at another K-8. We got into a chosen school with a sibling. |
| My kids graduated from a highly regarded K8 (not Langley). A few things to understand. Your school knew a few days to a week where the kids got in and/or WL. They cannot tell you of course but they should already be working on back up plans. The only time this was an issue for total shut out was when a family only applied to top schools with no safety and child’s grades/scores were not high. Actually I cannot remember a total shut out but maybe a safety and the school working through the WL. I also remember the WL moving which is why they tell everyone not to post and to give a few days for things to settle. It is also imperative for everyone to release spots if you do not need them. Sometimes a released spot is given to someone else at the school because schools generally will only accept a few kids from each k8 even if there are many great candidates. I do know everything will work out and everyone was so happy at graduation. If you care about fellow kids please do not hold the spots so you can boast that you were at all the accepted receptions. We both times released spots within an hour. Good luck!! |
| This happened to my kid a few years back and after calling around to see who has actual spots, we did a late round of applications. We also got feedback to understand what made the difference—turns out our kid had terrible shadow days. We prepped for the shadow days differently and they got in. |
Madeira is 50% day. |
