Yes it does matter. I was told by a therapist that it’s ok to have any feelings; it’s not ok to act on any feeling or emotion you have.
This kid is just not mature enough to realize he needs to stop right before saying certain things.
FTR I have an NT kid who had issues in 3rd grade - thankfully he wasn’t aware of the concept of rape but he could well say out loud that maybe a the kid who called in sick that day really had cancer. He grew out of it.
I think this young man will grow out of it too. He will always be prone to saying something weird but hopefully not acting on it

Your thought process is incredibly f’ed up. He “hopefully won’t act” on his threat to rape his teacher? Do you even hear what you are saying? In no way, shape or form is this okay. No teacher should have a kid who threatened to raped her in her class. There needs to be another placement for these children. We’re doing them and their teachers a huge disservice to allow them back in the classroom after such horrific behaviour. This is not okay.

I know lots of autistic kids and none of them would say something like that. He should be suspended at least a week, referrred for additional counseling services and removed from her classroom (unless the teacher really didn’t want him removed).

Typical kids have filters by that age

Do you not see this complete breakdown in discipline in the classroom as a problem? This forum blows my mind every day. Who in their right mind would sign up to be a teacher right now? This is absolutely absurd. Why does all the sympathy go to the perpetrator and never the victim?

Then the parents of the boy flipped out on ME when I had to tell them what happened. I was a very new teacher and only later realized they were lashing out because they were very embarrassed.

Which is why it really helps when an adult says: no worries, kids are still developing their filters, they have to get a punishment but don’t worry about it, we don’t consider your kid a budding criminal

Acting aggressively or interrupting the lesson is not ok
Saying something inappropriate if a kid is autistic - well we have least restrictive environment so what do you expect? Could be worse
