S/O Magnet Waitpools and Level One Rejections

I do hope you are right, and that it’s simply a form letter. However, the sentence right after the one you quoted says:

The committee believes your student’s academic needs will best be met in their assigned high school program.

Which is kind of a kick in the teeth.

DC did not get a wait pool letter. Where are you seeing this?

We were in 2 wait pool originally and appealed, for that we got rejection letters from poolesville. Did you appeal in the first place? This is not a wait pool letter, this is appeal results.

Thank you for explaining. The letter you got is really confusing. Hopefully they can clarify tomorrow.

Who makes up the committee?

Is anyone planning to ask Poolesville what the rejection means?

Maybe they're using people who appeal as a way to identify the annoying hypercompetitive types whose kids will only make these programs toxic.

This is uncalled for. My child has accepted their spot and is not in wait pool, but there's no reason to be unkind. What's interesting to me is that I've not heard from anyone who got a "yes" from the waitlist. Not on this list, and not from my current 8th grader who had several friends waiting on spots.

At the same time, I know a lot of kids who were lucky enough to receive multiple offers, so believe that many spots will have opened up on the various wait lists. Taken together, this all feels pretty curious.

Thank you for pointing it out to the other poster. Same here, did not hear if any kids got invitation from the wait pool. No body heard from RM yet if they sent any lettters yet for appeal.

We got the rejection letter. Don’t think we are hyper-competitive to toxic. What a strange comment. All we did was submit 2nd quarter grades for my DC who is not a current MCPS student. We did not say anything negative about the review process in our “appeal.”
