Thoughts on the name Meredith?

I've always liked the name Meredith. I knew girls with that name as a kid, and they used Meri ("merry") or Mere "mair" as nicknames.

I like it! I wouldn't assign a nickname but if you had to Merry is cute.

Meredith sounds rigid

I don’t like any of those. They sound like old lady names. But I love Meredith!

Same- pro Meredith! It sounds like a really nice name to me. Everyone knows the name, it's pretty, uncommon, has nickname potential if your dd hates it.

I think of it as a "TV name" and TV names are tacky. Meredith is a character in Grey's Anatomy.

Find me a name that has never been used on TV. eye roll.

I don't like it. I think it's the -dith sound that I just don't find pretty. I like the Mere part though and I love the name Meri or just Mary or Marie so I like a lot of somewhat similar names. But Meredith to me sounds kind of stodgy and for some reason (even though I can't think of anyone I know w/ the name) I picture a somewhat mean, stern woman who has no sense of humor.
