Strongly considering Meredith. Any time I hear the name I think it sounds fresh and happy. Also, it’s known but not super popular.
I wonder if it’s: too long? Too light/not serious enough? Prone to nicknames? Thoughts and opinions, please! |
| I always liked it. Sounds like a smart girl to me. |
| Meredith is a pretty and slightly serious name. I like it. It has just a touch of gravitas without being stodgy. |
| Interesting, it sounds rather serious to me with the harsh “dith” ending (rather than names ending in a/y/ie). It’s lovely but I’d probably assume she was named after a grandmother or someone. Friend’s DD went by “Meri” (pronounced Mary) |
| I love it. It was high on my list but I have boys. |
| Love it, too. High on my list but my DH rejected it. |
| Like it very much! |
| Wasn't on my list but I like it a lot. Pretty, serious, classic, kind of elegant. Go for it! |
| Greys Anatomy but not in a bad way |
| I like it but prefer Miranda -- similar vibe, recognizable but not popular, but I just think it sounds more musical and pretty. |
| I like it, for me I think of Meredith Blake of The Parent Trap so it reads as a kind of classy rich name. |

Perfer Marian, Mariane or Mariana
Meredith sounds rigid |
I don’t like any of those. They sound like old lady names. But I love Meredith! |
+1 And to me, Miranda says sex and the city but not in a good way. I might be alone on that one though. |
| I'm a Meredith. It has always seemed like a weird name to me as the pp noted - a "dith" ending is very uncommon in English girl names. It's fine though. I've had no issues with it. nn Merrie. |
