| I use it regularly to make steel cut oatmeal and rice. Probably 2-3x a month to cook meat or soup. |
Save the water you drain off the chicken, refrigerate or freeze it. Use it instead of bullion next time, just be more liberal with the salt. |
| I use it whenever I’m in a pinch, like afternoon meetings, ran late and the kids have to get to practice. I always have ingredients on hand, like chicken, salsa, beans, etc. throw that in and 15 minutes later we have a meal. |
| Hard boiled eggs and rice frequently. Chile, stock, or chicken dishes on occasion. |
| I just use it for beans. |
| After years of friends raving about the IP, I broke down and ordered one. I had success with potatoes and hard boiled eggs. Everything else I tried was flavorless and didn’t seem to save time over the stove or oven when factoring in the building pressure time and the pressure release time. I have a small kitchen and regretted the space it took up so I donated it. Most people I know who use it regularly make lots of beans and soups. We use the crockpot when we want soup and I prefer it for chili and meats. |
| Forgot to mention rice and hard boiled eggs. |
| Chicken soup/broth, beets/potatoes, apple sauce. Not too many things but once a week we do soup so it helps keep a pot off the stove. |
| I use it a couple times a week for rice, beans, or yogurt and a couple times a month for shredded pork or pot roast. |
|
Beans, beef stew, hard boiled eggs, and quick stock.
I've made a few one-off recipes (Indian food, posole, etc.), but I come back to those staples. DH also uses it for air frying. |
|
I use it as a stove basically!
I make the following things in it: -Sauces -Lentils/chickpeas -Boiled eggs or potatoes -Stews/chilli -Curries |
|
I use it for rice, hard boiled eggs, and oatmeal. Sometimes chicken, especially a large amount from frozen that I then use for other things.
But yes, the air fryer gets more daily use. It sits on our counter and the instant pot doesn't. |
| I love this thread. You all have inspired me to get rid of my insta pot that I never even took out of the box but felt guilty about getting rid of. |
| We have a large one and a small one. The small one we use almost daily to make hard boiled eggs. The large one I use maybe once or twice a year, usually if I'm hosting Thanksgiving and/or Christmas dinner. |
|
Not super often but yes, for beans.
That said, I got it as a gift, and if I didn’t have the easily-accessible closet to keep it in, would skip it. Definitely not a must have if you’re short on space. |
