wash gas bill of 470$ for a 66 degree home with new windows

wtf usage is up 110% from last year same month and its the same temp


we dont smell any leak it would have to be outside

137/92/70 are my last 3 months gas bill. Rowhouse is 1500 sq ft and thermostat is at 74 during the day and maybe 70 at night.

We have duel fuel on there two weeks house set to 68.

Propane $523 Electric $225.
2700 sq foot house. I had the propane company & Electric company check everything, just what the bills are....

My house has 5 bedrooms (three upstairs), we run everything constantly and have the thermostats to 70 and ours was $199. Also washington gas.

Get an energy audit.

There is only a loose correlation between house size and energy usage, how the house is constructed is far, far more important.

Not heating rooms doesn't save much energy, it just makes the heat in the adjoining rooms work harder.

OP here. agreed. and my dad is an engineer. when we bought the place last year we walked around doing that and made som changes like weather sealing etc

i called in a gas emergency to WG

the guy came out. no leaks anywhere

he said [b]i've been doing this kind of call all day, there is something wrong with the billing

he said there is no way you are leaking that much gas. 130 therms to 275 therms/mo.

he said youre paying as much as a small school

NP. Your anger is misplaced. If it were up to republicans there would be more oil and gas drilling. Oil and gas (and even coal) is cheaper than wind/solar that they keep building all over the place.

Electric bill was $165. So total for January was $329. Not too bad although way higher than it used to be!

We have 2000 square feet and had the following bills in the last month: $108 for electricity, and $180 for gas. These are the highest bills we have experienced in our 10 years in this home. It wasn't a cold month, and we are conservative with the thermostat, so I'm not sure how we ended up using so much power.
