They want a servant. Nannies generally aren't expected to clean, organize, or cook except making lunch. Just expected to minimally pick up after kids throughout the day

The job description is nanny/housekeeper and points out that someone would have to love organizing and love kids. I’ve never had a nanny for more than three afternoons a week but I know these jobs exist.

It is listed as Housekeeper/Nanny, not Nanny.

I don’t understand what is funny. I know at least a dozen families who employee people with pretty much exactly those duties. 3/4 hours while the kids are in school for them to clean/organize/meal prep/housekeeper stuff and then pick up and standard nanny stuff in the afternoon/evening. Most of the nannies/housekeepers I know also do the family’s shopping, return things, go to the post office etc. I am a SHAM and have made friends with some of these women when my kids were babies and they Nannie’s full time. Once the kids go to school, they become part house keepers, because the families want to keep them around. They also provide back up child care for teacher work days.

Half the working day is during school. That’s why it’s half housekeeper half nanny.

You are laughing because you can’t afford it. Hysterical!

Exactly. Not sure why this family should pay someone to sit around waiting for the kids to come home without performing some household tasks.

Except for vacuuming (which can be time consuming is house is big and needs to be done everyday), I don’t see any problem with this. She won’t be organizing all the closets every day. It takes 30 seconds to unpack and pack back packs.
Occasional meal prep and errands won’t be every day. What is the person supposed to do for 3-4 hours before the kids arrive? Watch tv? Then she would have been hired for 15-20 hours a week instead of 35.

If their hours have shifted with the new duties (for example, in the OP the hours do not start until 11 or 12) do they have to come in earlier on these teacher work days? I would think some of these employees would have found something else for their morning time (another part time position, a college class, even just a spin class at the gym, etc.)

When is this person supposed to do all those things that don't involve making sure two 8-year-olds don't kill each other?

Huh? They want them to start at 11 or 12, school hours!

So that's probably why they say "nanny/housekeeper."

+1
We have friends who wanted to keep their nanny once the kids all started school, and so they basically transitioned her to a position like this, to help with kid logistics and days off school, and then she did housekeeper-type duties during the day. She worked for them for like 20 years, until all the youngest kid started HS, so presumably she was happy with the pay and duties.

I pay $225 just for 2 people to clean my home for 3 hours. So roughly $37/hour. I guess if they are willing to pay that rate for a maid/personal assistant, like $5200/month, ok.

For the right location and pay, I would absolutely take this job.

OP did you contact them and ask what pay they are offering?

Try turning your brain on. If I offered to pay you a full time job vs a 3 hour a week job, where you needed to stitch that together with many more 3 hour a week jobs involving travel all around the area, would you be willing to take lower pay for those reliable hours, lack of commute time, and not needing to replace clients as they drop out?
