According to USNews, Denison is #39 among liberal arts colleges. When it was first rated by USnews in 1991, it was in the 37-71 tier. The first time it had an individual number ranking was in 2004, when it was #49. So I guess it has risen 10 spots in almost 20 years.
By contrast, Barnard rose 20 spots during that same time, from #38 to #18. Thomas Aquinas rose from #91 to #45. |
What does that have to do with the Dobbs dweebs who show up in every thread about a school in a red state, posting the same nonsense about not sending their daughters there? |
| Some top DC privates have sent kids to Denison recently. |
So is Steve Carrell |
The acceptance rate for the 2026 Denison class is 22%. My daughter is there and having a great experience. She has made friends from all over the country (80% of students are from out of state), and we have all come to love Granville (adorable) and Columbus (surprisingly cool). She was unsure about attending a small school but now likes the tight-knit community and the small class sizes. They have a 1 billion dollar endowment which is significant for a school that size. Connie Schultz recently joined the journalism faculty. There are a lot of great things going on at Denison. https://denison.edu/campus/about/fast-facts Regarding the politics of Ohio, I think Denison is pretty liberal but not overly political. We are democrats, and my daughter was happy to vote in her first election. After the Dobbs decision came out, the president emailed the community. He didn’t have any answers, but he did say, “… it is the role of the college to provide access to the health care needs of our students, faculty, and staff. Our ability to do so is both ethical and practical. We have an obligation to our community to provide access to medical options so that individuals can make choices about their own care.” Denison also has a brand new wellness center: https://denison.edu/places/wellness/sexual-reproductive-healthcare On a related note, Dr. Weinberg also stressed the importance of intellectual humility in his addresses to incoming students. Denison has an innovative program with an organization called Brave Angels that encourages civil discourse. https://denison.edu/campus/president/speeches/147308 |
In 2016, Denison was ranked #55. It has moved up 16 places since then. Adam Weinberg became the president in 2013. |
When a small group of reactionary, religious fanatics take away more than half the populations right to bodily autonomy, No. No we will not give it a rest. |
A small group ? The country is divided equally between liberals and conservatives. If it was just a small group of "religious fanatics", then Congress would take action by enacting a law or laws which would counter the Dobbs decision. Please take a moment to assess who is the real fanatic. |
And yet now Republicans are fighting amongst themselves about whether to fully ban abortion in various states, and some national Republicans wouldn’t discuss the issue at all because they knew their party, and the Dobbs decision, was out of step with majority public opinion. So we know who the fanatics are. |
Your argument is weak. You assert that Republicans are fanatics because some Republicans want limited exceptions to a complete ban on abortions while others favor a complete ban. Yet you want unlimited access to abortions and claim that those opposed to your position are in the minority and are fanatics. If you are correct, then the democratic process should result in passing laws which deal with the Dobbs decision. Please understand that not all voters & citizens are as vocal about their opinion as you appear to be. |
as would Vandie.. |
Nope. Never. |
The US overwhelmingly supports legal, safe abortions. Fact. |
| God damn it. Why do the Dobbs dingleberrries take over every thread and make it about politics? The OP asked about Den(n)ison, not for anyone's opinion on the abortion debate. I'm sure they know it's in Ohio and what the politics are there. |
It’s the opposite actually. Much higher performing students than 20 years ago. |
