Why are people impressed by people who can play guitar? What's the allure?

I don't care about my DS personal life because he is: 1- an adult and 2- it is none of my business. I do, however, as his father, worry about his future and I am also on the hook for college tuition + room/board. He is studying Computer Science and he did ok in his first two years and on track to graduate in four years. He dropped two classes last semester so it is unlikely that he will graduate in May 2024.

I just want him to graduate on time and take care of himself financially with a CS degree. I don't care what he does with music after that because it is none of my business.

Did he choose to study CS or did you choose for him? Have you asked him what he wants to do/why he's struggling this semester? That seems way more relevant than his sister's speculations re: guitar playing.

He took guitar and vocal lessons for twelve years. I am curious as to why young women are attracted to him, and while I am happy for him,I want him to graduate on time so that I don't have to spend more money on his education. What is it about guys playing the guitar attractive to women?

He chose the CS major himself. He did OK in the first two years with a 3.3 GPA. He spent a summer in Los Angeles with my younger brother and he changed a lot after that. My daughter told me that he didn't have a single female friend in his sophomore year to too many in his junior year.

This is OP. Where did I say I have contempt for his music ability? I don't care what he does with music, I paid the bill for that activity for twelve years but I want him to concentrate on obtaining his CS degree and graduate on time so that I don't have to pay for his education. The longer it takes him to get the degree, the more time for him not to earn a living while I still have to pay for his education. Not a good situation for both of us.

Tell him you will pay for four years of college and the rest is ok him. That will motivate him to graduate on time.
