Food literally stays in your stomach longer. Food in stomach = not hungry. |
It's not well understood why it works so well for weight loss. |
How big of a chicken breast are we talking about here? A 6oz chicken breast and some vegetables is one meal. A small (5oz yogurt) and some berries is a small breakfast. You are describing the dinner and breakfast of my 5yo. Posts like this are why people think that people seeking this drug for weight loss are disordered. The diet you're describing - that you need medication in order to stretch a 6oz chicken breast and a salad over 2-3 meals - is deeply unhealthy. |
NP. Well when you have 100 pounds to lose and have been obese for years and years, that's how you have to eat to become a normal weight. It sucks but it's true. That's why these drugs are a game changer. You can make the changes necessary to get to a normal weight without unsustainable hunger. |
Not me but a close friend: she says that on Wegovy, for the first time in her adult life, she doesn’t feel low-level hungry all the time. She’s always been a pretty healthy eater, just a volume eater, so it’s not like her diet has changed all that much in what she eats. But the quantity has dropped significantly.
She also told me that dense proteins are unappealing (like beef). |
If anything my diet has gotten worse because a lot of protein sources have become completely unappealing to me. So carbs are a much bigger proportion of my diet because sometimes all that sounds appetizing is a piece of toast or a cookie. Still down 65 pounds and counting. |
Thin people just don’t understand how little food it takes to maintain an obese (not morbidly obese) body when you’ve got decades of increasing insulin resistance, leptin issues, messed up circadian rhythm, modest aerobic output and not enough strength training.
To lose weight naturally you have to eat small amounts of low-carb foods at a few specific times of day all while strength training—that’s not disordered, it’s reality. It’s incredibly hard and that’s where these drugs come in. |
