Perhaps that’s something the Commonwealth’s AG can investigate.

It was a sales tax computation and happened across the state. This was not a direct targeted effort to remove funding - Tim Kaine attempted to change $ due FCPS Local school divisions doesn't mean geographic-like 200m short for ARL+Fairfax etc. Local is LEA=local education authority.

VA funding formula was scheduled to change based on the composite index and Kaine wanted to delay the change. 61m less for FCPS

This is what happens when you put idalogues into office rather than competent people.

And now students across the state will be harmed much more than if "CRt" were still in the classroom, which was the Governors main, and false, platform.

Yawn.

But Youngkin’s administration forgot to tell schools they were cutting school funding for this year and next. So schools are not getting the funding they were lead to believe was coming and that they counted on in setting budgets.

But hey it’s cool, they can just cut teacher salaries right?

I am confused. We have been paying the same taxes on groceries all along.

Stupidity begets stupidity.

The state’s 1.5% tax on groceries ended Jan 1, but localities were allowed to impose a local grocery tax of up to 1% to make up for lost funding from the state. So you’re not paying quite the same amount, but similar enough that you probably didn’t notice the difference.

IKR? If this had happened under Northam, you would just shrug. Of course.

It's very telling when someone tries to put her down.

If this is the national merit scholar issue, I think you will find that a lot of people don’t think it’s stupid nor would consider their child’s achievement a “consolation prize”.

If this national merit scholar issue is the "Commended" nomination of the PSAT, it is indeed consolation prize.

Meh. At least we don't have to worry about CRT teachings in school. That is what is most important.

The article uses the word local schools - that oesn't mean local or happening to what is in the WTOP area in NOVA. It means statewide the school divisions [called districts in other states] were short in actual funds budgeted based on receiving portions of VA sales tax receipts.

Kaine was attempting to delay the funding formula allocations to FCPS, Loudoun, etc so that other divisions would get more money.
