Im a home builder. Tesla cars remind of cheaply constructed contemporary homes. All the pieces (cheap) are there but no soul. BTW, I'm not a Tesla hater. I drive one myself and it serves a good purpose. However, it lacks the refinement and finish of IC vehicles. |
| tesla hahahaha! |
Yeah! 50K+ and no leather seats! |

Tesla has never done well in Consumer Reports' annual reliability surveys and the same is true for the manufacturer's 2022 performance.
|
| According to J.D. Power, Tesla vehicles had an average of 176 mechanical faults per 100, compared to an average of 121 for the industry. They ranked tesla 30th out of 33 brands featured in a J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Survey released last year. |
Other EVs, like the ID.4 but probably not limited to them, will warm up your car for you too. From an app I can control my EV's internal temperature. Acceleration may or may not matter much depending on whether you mostly drive in the city and/or need to merge onto the Beltway every day. In any case pretty much all cars accelerate quickly these days, it's just a question of a few seconds. |
+1. My 20 y.o. minivan accelerates quickly enough for me even after 200K miles. Not really looking to be Speedy Gonzales. |
Don’t all cars have the fake leather now days? |
Just ordered a Model Y and decided against all of this. FSD doesn’t work, so it’s pointless. To make matters worse, Tesla has been removing radar sensors from the cars and a hardware update is expected later in 2023 or 2024 so clearly it’s a waste of money for current models. Enhanced Autopilot has several features that I want, like auto lane change. However the cost doesn’t seem worth it. It’s important to note that several other automakers provide all of the features of EA with the significant added cost and many reports are that they work better than Tesla. These include the Ioniq by Hyundai, Volvo’s Polestar and the new Mercedes EVs that will be released soon. Tesla no longer seems to be the industry leader in this technology. |
Many give you the choice of real or “vegan” leather options. There are practical reasons not to have real leather, like maintenance. It’s not really a big deal anymore. Ventilated seats are a bigger deal and Tesla doesn’t have them but everyone else seems to have them. |

OP, to answer your question, you would most likely find Enhanced Auto Pilot useful and FSD not very useful.
Spend the money on EAP and skip FSD. |

That's rich, Elon. You suddenly move halfway into another lane of traffic at highway speed and abruptly stop for no reason whatsoever in front of a car that had no traffic at all in front of it and you call that driver error? Who did they buy off? https://theintercept.com/2023/01/10/tesla-crash-footage-autopilot/ |
+1 If you can afford it, EAP all the way. I would probably check for used Teslas because you’re more likely to get one at a reasonable price with EAP. |
