Are the Enhanced Autopilot or FSD capability worth it? Do they really do what they promise to do?
Considering Model Y. I'm the kind of person who doesn't even use cruise control right now. |

You should join a Tesla Facebook group and ask them.
Most answers here are from Tesla haters. |

We took an Uber this summer and was picked up in a Tesla model 3. The driver was doing tesla beta testing for the auto pilot and got our permission to demo it on part of our ride to Dulles airport.
Tge car itself was not luxurious. It seemed plasticky. Granted a lot of “drivers” cars are better from the driver and passenger perspective vs the kid-seats in the back; but the doors and seats reminded me of a Corolla. The autopilot was somewhat impressive, but a very jerky and uncomfortable ride. It made a couple of mistakes, so the driver mentioned that he needed to hit a button to report it to Tesla. we needed to to change over three lanes to tske an exit, and admitted that he needed to do that manually because auto pilot was not good at it. Also the car got confused a couple of times and he had to grab the wheel to reset it. My daily driver is a GLE so I wasn’t expecting that. And I’ve ridden in a few Tesla’s in the past 6 years. But DH worships Musks “genius” and has been wanting to buy one for forever, and even he is changing his mind. |
Musk did not invent Tesla. He never invented anything dh might want to learn something. And he never went to college. Standford lied for him got sued. Tried to lie again and lost the lawsuit and had to come out and say Musk never went to college. His daddy gave him money he buys things a genius that does not make. |

tesla Y owner here
love the drive and the saving gas part and the dog-mode (keeps internal temp for you and displays a note so people wont break in to your car), and the third row, and the speed and acceleration. Fit and finish is well below other cars (plastic-y, pieces fall off etc) DON'T SPEND THE MONEY ON THE SELF DRIVING (10k). It's not worth it, we wouldnt trust it for the freeway or at high speeds, and at trafficky low speeds the regular auto drive thing works the same. Overall still a great car but don't expect the quality of a porsche or mercedes unless you move into the X or S models. |
+1, but as a Tesla x owner who has also driven an S for a couple of days, the X and S are not luxurious either. Nothing has fallen off or anything like that, but I would describe the interior as practical and sleek, not plush. I grew up in a family devoted to Hondas, so I don’t care for the plushy luxury feel of European autos, but I know a lot of people do. Some luxury cars look like a baroque explosion of veneer, leather, and chrome inside. Tesla X is fine, but it’s not dripping with wood veneer with an overly padded steering wheel. I do love the features though. I love that i can wait in my car with the heat or air conditioner on without idling. I love dog mode for sure! And I love that I can accelerate quickly if I need to. It feels great driving a Tesla up a big hill. |
By regular auto drive, did you mean one of Enhanced Autopilot? Here's what the website describes each as with pricing.. Enhanced Autopilot is $6K - While driving on the highway, Automatic Lane Change will position your car in the optimal lane to prepare for merges and exits while overtaking slow cars. Drivers are given clear insight to upcoming lane changes as well as customization to Auto Lane Change functionality. Features: Navigate on Autopilot Auto Lane Change Autopark Summon Smart Summon Full Self-Driving is 15K - Features: All functionality of Basic Autopilot and Enhanced Autopilot Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control Coming Soon - Autosteer on city streets Disclaimer/Note: The currently enabled features require active driver supervision and do not make the vehicle autonomous. The activation and use of these features are dependent on achieving reliability far in excess of human drivers as demonstrated by billions of miles of experience, as well as regulatory approval, which may take longer in some jurisdictions. As these self-driving features evolve, your car will be continuously upgraded through over-the-air software updates. |
| These features are completely worth it! |

Not reliable.
Will not be able to fix them in a few years. Musk will take Tesla down with him Great use of your cash? I had Teslas junk absolute junk. Many other companies have better technology and better reliability. |
| yes worth it |

The fun thing about FSD is that it can return control to the driver with a second of warning and then Tesla will blame anything after that on the driver. If they want to claim FSD, they should claim level 3, but they know they can never meet those standards |
