Kid wearing a tutu to class

Kid wants attention.

Whatever.

if their underwear isn't visible, whatever. of all the ways to rebel or assert one's uniqueness, this seems temporary and harmless. Only concern would be in a shop class or something else where it could get caught in machinery, or a specialized activity like a choir or sport where kids are all dressed to match.

Ok? My rule is season appropriate so as long as there are leggings or pants under it- works for me.

He wants attention- whether he’s trans, non-binary, hetero, gay or whatever. He wants attention. Plus may he likes the itchy material.

Wear it for a big test day to distract all the adhd kids.

Attention seeking. Typical. Carry on.

In college, I had a gay friend who liked to wear skirts.

One day he and I were walking around campus. Him in a skirt and me in normal college kid outfit of jeans and a t-shirt. A group of frat boys walked by and stared at us, daggers in their eyes. Without missing a beat my friend turned to me and hissed, “cross-dresser!”

Look how evolved I am!

I think it’s called not taking the bait. Who in their right mind gets worked up over something like this.

I am curious how this is different than students who wear, say, cat ears?

It’s middle school. Some are clinging to their childhood still. Others are trying to shock adults. They’re all trying on identities.

As an adult our job is to give them the safe space to let them do this stuff without judgment. They will grow out of it.

I don’t know what that means.

Who cares. He should wear whatever he wants. And people need to accept that.
