A Christmas Miracle Happened - DCUM style

I am fully expecting Mary Bara the CEO of General Motors to congratulate me in the morning. I heard in Japan it will be a national day of sorrow. How could an American car do that? When Japan finds out they will be pouring billions into R&D.

Please DCUM Gods of Auto explain how it happened. I read thousands of posts on the Cars and Transportation thread and it just cant happen. No American Car could do a 12 hour round trip at ten years of age successfully.

Okay? And what would you have done if it did break down mid-way on your trip? No warranty, no free roadside or towing, no free loaner car. You’d be screwed. But congrats on driving an ugly old car. No American suv from 2012 looks nice. Ugly era with crap interiors. Stuff designed during the bankruptcies.

Was this trip part of a rescue operation? Do you have the pups’ mama? Can you post pics? I don’t care about your car, but I am interested in the puppies.

I don't know how! Yes, it's a foster situation. Pregnant stray dog brought in to the shelter. The mother dog is here and nursing her puppies as I write. They're making such funny contented sounds. And when it gets a little cold, they wiggle into each other blindly and make a pile of puppies. It's adorable.

I truly don't know an American made SUV from a hole in the wall.

Unless it's German it is simply a hunk of junk.

Actually it looks really nice. It is a GMC Acadia Denali with every option. I test drove a 2022 Atlas last summer as a possible replacement and surprising very few things it did not have. But a car with every option going on 11 years old is a time bomb. I rather have a zero option 11 year old car. Lots of crap could go wrong. I was cruising at one point at almost 90 mph for an hour in 9 degrees.

I’m not surprised at all. Today’s American cars are more reliable than Japanese cars. My 2008 Ford Fusion is still running strong at 310.000 miles.
I was told it wouldn’t last 100.000 miles. Meanwhile, my wife’s 2010 Toyota Camry was done before 150.000 miles and had to be replaced this year.

And yet my 2002 Honda Odysey is still running with no problems. In all the years I've owned it, it has needed few repairs.

You forgot to mention the two thousand or so pounds of C02 your little drive in your stupid suv put into the atmosphere.

You’d have to drive about 2500 miles to emit a ton of CO2. Do the math.

Your unfounded opinions are even more so.

Air weighs 14.7 lbs

A gallon of liquid (and gasoline is a liquid, last I checked ) weighs 8 lbs

Every gallon of gasoline burned puts 117 lbs of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. (14.7x8=117)

A 1,200 mile drive at 20 mpg for a typical SUV burns 60 gallons of gasoline.

60x117=7,020

7,020 lbs of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere for OP’s trip. 3.5 TONS of CO2 killing the planet. And OP thinks this is funny.

You trumpers are so damn stupid you can’t even understand basic science and simple math. You just go on insisting that your suv isn’t hurting our world. And even when the proof is right there in front of you, you still refuse to accept it. You people are destroying this planet with your orange buffoon god king.

Demonstrably untrue according to general stats.
Toyotas dominate the top ten cars that have longest longevity and miles. See thread in this forum .

OP I’m glad you made it home safely. We had to take our car to a mechanic’s shop along 95 for a repair (never buying another Nissan again). At least we didn’t have to pay the DMV premium at the auto shop.

That list is biased as it is for “cars” U.S. Made pickup trucks if included a lot more America vehicles would be on list
