Crime approaching 90s levels

We got weed. Why can't people be content with weed?

And I've never seen people get violent when they smoked weed.

When drunk or on coke or many other things, yes, but not weed.

One time a poster here on dcum referred to “the car jacking 90s,” and I found that so funny that I now exclusively refer to the 1990s by this nickname.

I lived here in the 90s. We had 400 plus misters a year and fewer people.

The gentrifiers I knew who moved into DC in the 90’s were from the Md and Pa suburbs. All the Virginians I knew (including myself) moved further west.

The homicide rate went down to a remarkable low of 88 in 2012 before rising almost three fold to 226 in just nine years. At this rate, it will be back to 400 within a decade.

Hard to prove but I think this was more true in the 90s than now. Lots of legal competitors for the drug trade now, although obviously it still exists

Sure you do. I bet you don't even live in DC or anywhere near it. You sound like you're too chickenshit.

You realize CCW permits are a thing in DC right? Many of us carry. Also, genuinely curious — why are your parties all up in a bunch?

What were we doing in 2012 that we are not doing today?

Ramsey didn’t have to deal with a demographic youth boom. I would guess much of this issue has demographics at the root more than policy.

Jump outs.
Stop and frisk.
Broken windows policing.
Vice-squads.
