What do you think about the forecast tomorrow morning? Delayed opening?

Three kids went home Monday with fevers...two left today sick...I am sick. I'll be there bc no subs. This would be greatly welcome if they just canceled it. (And there are already 7 kids out for vacation tomorrow...) It really is pointless.

Please call out so that you don’t infect a student and ruin a family’s Winter Break.

Um, clearly from this post...the other students already did that job. The point... your head....Clearly flying over it.

Are you sure you're an MCPS teacher? Kids come in sick on a near daily basis. Then they get the other kids sick. Guess what happens? They all still come in. If you are a teacher, try telling that to the parents. Or maybe your admin happens to be decent. Many aren't. I really HOPE you aren't a teacher.

You think all of the other kids are already infected so it doesn’t matter that their sick teacher is a foot away from their unmasked faces? At the very least, she ought to care enough about herself to stay home if she’s sick. However, y’all don’t care about the teacher. Only that she provides your free daycare.

Hilarious.

I do not work, and don't need childcare for my children. When they're sick, they have the luxury of staying home, pampered by their mother. But my mother didn't have that choice - she had to work. So I get it. Most parents in this world cannot afford to stay home and look after mildly sick kids. It's too bad that we treat children and families this way, but I certainly don't blame the parents who need to pay for shelter and food.

Looks like Poolesville might have snow/sleet in the morning so possibly a delay for the other 150,000 of us.

I work for the government. Thank you so much for paying my salary too! I don't know what I'd do with you! You are certainly a pillar of this community!

Surely they would have called a delay by now, right?

Yeah it sucks that there aren’t a so much skepticism that you are really sick but any absences right before a holiday are absolutely treated as such. Unless you literally throw up or faint at school to make it obvious.

Yes. For reference, MCPS policy is to make the call by 5am.

I'm an oncologist with a kindergartner. If school is canceled for no reason last minute, it means I have to cancel and reschedule 18 patients, several with chemo sessions. So it might be greatly welcome to school staff to cancel what is considered to be a pointless day of school, but it causes havoc and can be really frustrating for others. Our hospitals are already understaffed as is during this incredibly busy season.
