She's currently spiraling in a jealous rage over Cat on Instagram. Frankly its entertaining.

Cat Marnell's Vice column Amphetamine Logic was some of the best writing to emerge from the 2010s. Such a strong, funny, charismatic, brutally honest voice. You just hoped she'd survive and finish her columns. It wasn't train wreck voyeurism. It was the voice - so smart, so-self-aware, so fearless. A really interesting writer at that moment in time. But you can't write and live like that for long until you become a broken cliche - a little sad, a little boring, a little pathetic. You need a second act and unfortunately Cat never found one. But so much talent. Wonderful voice. Miss reading her.

Well said, thank you...I'm one of the PPs that didn't give Cat enough credit, but looking back, I think you might be right. The writing was good, and she had a lot more guts than I gave her credit for.

Emily was indeed sent to one of those teen reform schools. Cat wrote about it in her book- a very sad and damaging episode. They were privileged in so many ways, but their parents also had pretty serious issues and could be abusive/neglectful. Compassion for all concerned? Thank goodness for the grandmother- seemed like the only sane person in the family, according to Cat's autobiography. Which is really well written and insightful and funny. She's quite brilliant, and self-aware about her problems. I hope the sisters reconcile some day, and healing takes place.

Yeah, I was about to say, that comment was wildly out of line. Cat and her sister are messy as hell but dismissing what is obviously very real trauma because their parents were UMC is wild.

People who grew up in "milquetoast" environments rarely act the way the Marnell sisters do. There are always exceptions but they are clearly hurting. I'm sorry you think that money solves all problems.
