Planning to get a small cotton candy machine for DH’s cousins children, is this a bad idea?

For those who would not want this cotton candy machine, what type of joint gift works best for these ages? (the family is exchanging joint gifts for children so our children would receive a joint gift of some sort in return)

Maybe a small popcorn machine or waffle maker or something if you're dead set on a kitchen item. With gift receipt in case it turns out to be a dud.

Ugh, DON’T. Nobody wants a “maker” junking up their garage or kitchen or pantry or basement or wherever. Just don’t. Get them a gift card to local cinema or Fandango and boxes of candy/popcorn.

Do you get how junky these “makers/machines” are? They never work properly, they break, no one wants cheap crap like this. Just don’t.

how about some sort of ice shaver or slush mugs. slush mugs would be used, i think.

Totally fine to buy it yourself. But some would not want it and so not a good gift to buy someone else's kids. My parents would buy stuff like this and I would be annoyed.

I had one, wasn't great, didn't work well. Hard to use and messy. I made some candy cane cotton candy which was good! But we threw it out. No way kids could use it on their own, it does not work well.

Thanks Pp for this suggestion. Is there one you recommend? Quite a few popped up on Google.

This. We’d donate to the school or church.

Not pp but Zoku ones are really good.

We would give that away. My kids don't eat cotton candy often enough that we need a home cotton candy machine. They eat it less than once a year. We're not big on eating pure sugar.

I am a cotton candy fiend but I would not want that in my house. I think an ice shaver or one of those fancy popcorn machines would be more appreciated.

These are junk and take up space. They don’t even work well. If you must, rent a real one for a party

The church or school do not want these junky things either. If they need cotton candy fr an event they rent the one from the rental place that actually works and makes enough for multiple kids.

My kids love this. I bought it for them. That said, it doesn’t create those huge puffs of cc. More like skinny cones of it.
