What will happen in friendship heights?

Chevy chase land company really blew it with the giant and the fancy pants shops.

Why is Pike and Rose successful if people are not shopping anymore?

Because they have tons of restaurants, a movie theater, a dog bar, and a bowling alley. The draw is the entertainment stuff - the shopping (which is actually pretty limited) benefits from the overall activity.

Downtown Silver Spring is also doing well for the same reason. There is a movie theater, duckpin bowling, Dave & Buster's, etc. There is also density nearby, so it can support two grocery stores and smaller niche shops. No, it's not as high end as Friendship Heights was, but it's thriving even as shops in FH are closing down.

It is all about network effects and externalities. Friendship Heights just doesn't have the economies of scale to keep things going, and hasn't for a while. They need a few destination tenants to turn things around.

I think that all the new apartments being built in Friendship Heights will help. It's just a matter of time.

Free 2 hr parking. Mix of semi decent restaurants with shopping.

Oh, more condos. Great. Guess all but street storefront retail is gone for good.

Can anyone post a link to the plans or are they not consolidated?

A ton of land in DC, accessible by metro, near where a lot of people live. It's only a matter of time.

Has there been any more news about the food stall market?
