I'm sure that's the only reason that friend was accepted.

I call troll. There is someone on this forum with a huge axe to grind and this is clearly her moment to make things up.

I believe the deferred ED kids are moved to regular decision. Have a freshman ED student there now. Does know deferred ED kids who did get in regular decision and are there now.

Deferred ED kids are moved to EA. This happened to my son last year.

Because they all talk amongst themselves and that’s what DS said. In fact, friend even told him he’s sure that was the only reason he got in ED - but yes, could be lots of other reasons. He might have just been making DS feel better. I’m just noting what the friend group is telling him. 🤷‍♀️

But you're an adult so you should know better. You have no idea why that child was admitted.

You do realize this is an anonymous forum, right? Chill!

Accepted to Engineering and Honors college. Not URM. Very happy and glad to be done early.

Anybody have experience with applications for criminal justice? Guessing not as challenging as engineering. Waiting on early action application but applied several weeks ago.

Increasing first gen students at the school is an institutional priority for VT, so it very well could have tipped the balance here.

(NP)

Absolutely. They have a stated goal of 40% URM and first generation.

+1. The President has said this several times. Google it

The same people keep repeating this, ad nauseum. We know. However, you're forgetting about the other 60+% of students who are accepted. Stop making excuses.

No excuses. This is a fact. The president of them only polytechnic university in the state wants 40 percent URM and first generation. The population of the state is not 40 percent URM. That is called social engineering. Many question if that is the proper role of the only public polytechnic. Read Chrinicke if Higher Education before casting aspirations. This is called a newsworthy issue so open to decays. Stop shutting down those who actually know what is going on.

Early action decisions are sent in February. Follow the admissions director on twitter. He will give a day or so notice what day and time they will be posted.

I am not making excuses. My child is there now. That is how I know that the admissions director says this every time he speaks to parents. I personally (I can't speak for other posters) have little respect for that school for a multitude of reasons so I'm not upset or surprised at their admissions policies; it's their school so have at it.
