How Is Everyone Getting Weight Loss Medication?

You still have to put the work in to achieve any meaningful weight loss so there is no catch. They help you get started. If you don’t change your habits long term you gain the weight back. I’m saying this as someone who is currently on Ozempic but without rose colored glasses.

Get f-ed. Seriously. My doctor thought it was beneficial for me to get on Ozempic since I was on BP meds, and was about to get on cholesterol meds. You're actually feeling sorry for the big pharma not producing enough of the medication that is helping people lose weight and get healthier. You are what is disgusting.

Well if you were smart enough to figure out why there is a shortage maybe you would be getting somewhere. If you want to get hooked on big pharma instead of buckling down and doing the hard work to correct your health ship, go right ahead. I can guarantee that’s a garbage long term solution.

Your doctor is giving you meds because they know compliance is effectively zero.

Or maybe, just maybe, if close to zero percent of people succeed at losing weight long term “doing the hard work” it’s not actually a failure by humans but a failure in the method. Humans are wired the way we’re wired. We know conclusively that dieting doesn’t work, so let’s figure out something else.

That's really strange. Dieting worked wonders for me. In fact, anyone I've ever know that has lost any amount of weight credited it to diet. Where did you pick this up, PP?

Newsflash! You still have to diet on these meds. Please educate yourself about how they work before spewing any more nonsense. You’re not special.

That’s nonsense that gets spewed by people that can’t handle changing their habits. All of that is possible. You don’t need “miracle” drugs.

It’s a failure that only appeared in the last 50 years. It takes a lot of conscious work to gain all that weight. Just like it takes a lot of conscious work to take it off. I did it and I’ve maintained it.

No way would I ever sign up to be a slave to big pharma. You would think after the last two years of insanity that people would be running away from that. Guess not. Good luck saddling yourself with a life time of compliance by chemistry.

Do you know anything about what has happened to our food sources and the level of chemicals we are exposed to over the last 50 years? It isn't people who have changed. You are lucky your body can metabolize what you have been exposed to. Not every body has the same genetics.

Any side effects??

Today is day 3, so super early days, but marked reduction in appetite and some mild/passing nausea. Had initially tried to get wegovy, but the shortage meant that 8 weeks after it was prescribed, it still hadn’t been filled. My doc put thru ozempic and I got it immediately. It’s the same thing, but whatever.

My DH is diabetic and his pharmacy told him they may not be able to refill his prescription until January. This is for a medication that he actually needs. What are legit patients supposed to do? People who want to lose a few pounds for superficial reasons have caused a shortage of a drug that some patients depend on. It’s crazy!

I call bs. You are probably the same Pp as above who is so nasty. Your husband is not dependent on these medications like he is on insulin. You might have to call a couple of pharmacies to get it but you can certainly find it. I just did. Thirdly, you actually are fine without the next dose of this medication for up to 7 weeks according to my doctor. Lastly, one is getting this to lose a few pounds. People are prescribed this when they have a true medical reason. You’re just a hateful shrew. Damn you people. You hate us far and the minute we get something to help us get hearnier to start crying.

Oh stop being so dramatic. No one needs Ozempic to survive. There are plenty of other GLP-1 medications that aren’t in short supply if he needs one for glucose control.

Could be phenterimine (sp?) + b12 shots from a medical weight loss clinic. If not ozempic. Might cost 2500. But couple months of ozempic will cost you that too if insurance doesn't cover it.

Exactly. These folks acting like ozempic is a life saving drug for diabetics. And the other folks talking crazy about being slaves to big pharma, do you say that to folks on heart medication, medication for mental needs, medication for cancer, do yell at those folks to just eat right and exercise?

Wow. I cannot imagine this level of hostility towards people trying to become healthy. Being overweight is hard on your health. Losing weight isn’t always a calories in calories out endeavor if you have hormonal problems or if you overeat/binge to deal with stress. Overweight people will eventually have bad health outcomes due to the weight.
